22 year old invents a way to instantly stop bleeding

Ah Hemcon, my favourite! Used Quikclot powder once, horrible stuff and it felt like it had burnt my hand through the latex glove (chemical reaction to the blood on it) but the newer ACS they make was pretty good. I left before I had chance/opportunity to use Celox but I hear good stuff about it.

I seem to remember a case where a civvy was involved in a RTA and a passing Army medic used some Quikclot she had. The A&E staff had not seen it used before and had no idea how to remove it and had to spend valuable time finding out, but how true that was I honestly couldn't say.

Did the patient live?

I think you need more than a finger if someone's been shot in the abdomen, chest or head.

You can tourniquet an abdomen now :p

big thing goes around then twists tight then inflates iirc meant to get the big aorta that goes down to your legs

In all seriousness, imagine all ambulances having these in their kits... Might be a few years. But I can only imagine the amount of lives that might be saved with this stuff...

the original quikclot burns like a mofo, I think they changed it later on so it doesnt burn

there is a product that doesn't burn made from seashells called Celox

chest gunshot gets fixed with a three sides taped of a bit of plastic jobbie stuck to you :-D

I think a burning sensation would be the least of my worries if large amounts of blood were escaping through a hole in my leg :p

Finally. So many times iv cut myself especially shaving and nothing makes it stop

Tissue it the best thing but even that takes ages

Styptic pencil, will instantly stem blood flow from shaving cuts. £1 from super drug.
The M.I.C doesn't care about cost. The US regularly spends more on it's military than the several nations on the list who follow, combined.

Well that's a completely incorrect statement.

There's only aorta Tefal and the device only really works with damage in the extreme upper legs and pelvis region. Won't work on a gut shot.

Damn that's pretty cool. I wonder if they've discovered any negative effects? Bleeding out is pretty dangerous, if it works as described it'll save a lot of people!
