*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Well to be fair when I logged in, it did come up with a message that destiny will reboot at some point. Would be better if they gave a time etc.
Sorry I know they do it when you are in orbit, but not when you are on the surface, which its going to be most of the time. Just something that should exist considering how often we get 'kicked' posts in here. At least an in-game warning of say 30mins would let most finish what they were doing...

ps3ud0

This is what theyre working on:

1.2.0.4 - The one about Passage Coins and Demo weapons

This update to Destiny makes two small adjustments to the way Passage Coins are distributed in Trials of Osiris and how weapons behave as players migrate from the Destiny Demo to the full version of the game. Pardon our dust!

Weapons
Adjusted the 402 Attack Rating for weapons acquired in the Destiny Demo down to the proper value of 365

Trials of Osiris
Removed Passage Coins from the Lighthouse reward chest
Added a chance for Passage Coins to be awarded after match losses

Nothing of interest really.

I get what you mean, a timer of some sorts would be helpful other than an oh btw destiny will be going offline shortly etc.

****ing muppets they are, they couldn't do this hotfix later in the evening could they??

Doesn't help that my batman arkham game hasn't arrived or otherwise I could play that in the meantime. Damn royal fail didn't deliver and now I have to wait 2 bloody weeks before I can get a replacement  not that the place I bought it from can do anything, told me to wait 2 weeks.

Out of curiosity, what sensitivity do people use?

I had mine on default since launch, but recently upped it a few notches. Seems to have improved my game a bit. The aim assist really favours a higher sens I feel.

I usually play on 7 but recently dropped it down to 5 as I found it was taking me a split second longer to aim when going ADS with scout and sniper rifles. I'm going to up it to 6 though as I find the turning time (going round corners etc) is too long on the lower sensitivity.

Started with default then upped it to 6 early on. After about a month I upped it again to 7 and have been running that ever since. Seems to be the right balance for me.

While I don't personally have an issue with it being random, I do feel it actually goes against the way the rest of the raid is set up....

Opening the door - you split into teams of your choosing to open the portals and keep them open.
Defending the confluxes - you split into teams of your choosing to defend the conflux
Destroy the oracles - you split into teams of your choosing to cover each area effectively
Defeating the Templar - you pick a relic holder and work as a team to defeat the Templar
Defeating the Gatekeepers - you split into groups of your choosing to open portals, enter the portals, destroy the Gatekeepers and then pick up the relic
Defeat Atheon - you don't get to choose a thing, it's virtually all random except for which one of 3 random players will pick up the relic, assuming one of you even wants the job

That's the only issue I have with it. The rest of the raid teaches you to pick a role and to learn that role, yet the final part of it goes against the grain and makes it all random.

this.

Its BS that they never intended it to be like that. More like they never thought people would work out how they chose players and start actively putting people at the front & back to make those choices.

Sure they wanted it to be random but they threw their toys out of the pram when they knew we'd worked it out. The voice was loud and clear on this one, we prefer it random. Bungie didn't give a ****

Who said anything about them changing things? What I was getting at was that the game could have been so much more then just grinding the same bounties daily and the same nightfalls/raids once a week. What I mentioned was just an example and would have worked fine for both PvE and PvP types of players due to the way you're matched together on Patrol in the first place, all it would need is an option to disable PvP before you start match making for patrol which is all it is, it's not like it's a giant dedicated world/server where everyone plays together. Depending on who has it enabled or disabled you would then be matched into the correct lobby.

Thing is though, in Destiny all players are on the same side. Having PvP outside of the Crucible makes no sense, it doesn't fit in the world at all.

Agreed with both of you.

Destiny could have been about so much more than grinding the same story missions and strikes over and over again.

But I don't think it would work having PVP in the patrol mode.

Ah, the weapon balancing! So your proposed solution is to completely ignore the game data telling them that the vast majority of weapons were being ignored because ARs were overpowered? In what world is that going to make the game better?

My proposed solution is to stop meddling and changing things for changing's sake.

You will never stop one type of weapon being used more than the others. All we've done is swap auto rifles for hand cannons.

Guaranteed the next step of patches will just change it again. The community will always take the path of least resistance and find the best class and then everybody will flock to it.

You need etheric light to upgrade your armor / weapons to the max level

You get this from doing the level 34 or level 35 prison of elders / nightfalls / trials of osiris (ultra high end PVP 3v3 competition) or from iron banner. You can help yourself get to level 34 by doing the level 32 prison of elders which rewards you with a level 34 piece of armor.

Iron banner isn't on now so your best source is to do Prison of Elders. what level are your characters ?

I think level 30. Whatever the max level was in vanilla.

I used to run 8 which was fine, but I've found sniping is so much better at 4~. I run 4 full time, what I do now is ADS a lot less often, when I do ADS I'm already mm's away from someones head so its just a slight move. It took a little awhile but I'm so much more accurate now.

Off course if your running a shotgun then you will need higher.

They aren't changing it for change's sake though, they are changing it because there is a balance issue. I don't know how Suros and Vex being the only viable weapons in PvP for the entire lifetime of the game would somehow be a preferable situation.

Balancing is always an ongoing process. It got a lot better in the last tweak, it'll get better next time.

Balance wise, they just need to kill the range on handcannons and slightly increase the damage with ARs and then I think it'd be all pretty well balanced.

If hand cannons were rubbish at range, you'd see a lot less people running around with Thorn/Last Word and a shotgun.

Bungie did make ARs complete useless. I can't think of any part of the game where a different class of weapon won't totally outclass them. They might just do the same thing to all hand cannons.

Also Thorn/Last Word are not soo OP, I can just as quickly with my Red Death/Messenger, and everyone would just use those, and we would be back too square one and everyone complaining about a weapon being OP. We will just end up with all weapons being useless and everyone just punching each other in the face.

Finally, this is a mix between MMO and FPS, there is going to be best in slot items, I don't get why people complain about it, I don't see people complain about the rest of the items they use, why is the Ram the best exotic for warlocks, lets nerf that too, raid boots give you heavy ammo, there clearer best in slot too, nerf.
