The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Nothing wrong with the fury x, good card but seriously over hyped, it just needs to be priced a little cheaper now that the 980ti's are about £500, which will happen, like any product when first released they are always more expensive than what they should be.

Also, don't forget that the AIO water cooling will be adding at least £50 on top so the fury (air/fan version) will be even cheaper and no doubt AMD will provide some games to go along with the cards too, iirc battlefront is coming with the cards? That alone is worth £30+

And it is a given that performance will improve with drivers over the next few months, new tech. and all that. AMD windows 10 modded drivers on W8.1/7 is providing a pretty good performance boost, even for the 7950's.

nvbot LOL I've had far more AMD / Ati cards than Nvidia :P

Freesync I can understand but the temperature is of no actual practical issue. 90c on an nvidia card at the same noise levels with better performance is of no issue, ofc I water cool everything so my GPU's rarely go above 45c(ish) and then there is Shadowplay which for me has just been the USP that sell it for me.

I'd hold off until you see if there are any improvements to be made via drivers / unlocked voltage before purchase, I got a bad feeling that it's voltage locked already as it's at max perf levels.

Also I hate playing games at less than 300fps these days as I can really tell when a game drops below that as I've always been very sensitive to fps / input lag / frame dropping so while I will probably jump on pascal, I'll still be running everything on low like a true try hard :D

What settings are you using for shadow play? Despite putting it on a quick SSD I still get stuttering.

You don't really want to use an SSD for Shadowplay, bear in mind max bit rate is (off the top of my head) 50mbps @60fps so you can use a good old mech instead. I put both the temp and main folder onto a mech. Oh and everything maxed out (not in game ofc low for the pro).

You need some gsync love in your life then Joe :D

Haven't noticed tearing in years cos I'm actually playing the game not looking at my screen fapping to the glorious graphics :P

Never had stuttering with shadowplay and I'm capturing to a big old 1TB HDD :S (native res, 60fps, 30 or 35mbit).

Thanks will give it a try.

Not sure if it makes any odds these days but I used to short stroke a big old 7200RPM HDD so I had a 40GB partition at the start of the drive with guaranteed low seek times/sustained transfer rates for capturing to then moved the older captures out to the bigger partition that took up the rest of the drive later - used to help with higher framerate/resolution captures back in the day but not sure if it makes much odds any more.

Good games tonight don't think i was out of the top 6 which is decent for me.

LOL at that dude thinking nexus was xfactor and those HH guys were in tears by the time they left the server

The love/hate/salty a simple name gets is amazing.

and Furry X ordered for £509 :)

be on tomorrow night for some rekking

Tidy! Made the most practicle sense as you already have a freesync beast.

yeah, had a day of reading around the web, various places. Looking way better than the early reviewers, actually looking like people getting better frames than 980tis at 1440p now which wasn't the case a few days ago. Think the heat, size, low noise compared to my crossfire plus coupled with dx12 and my freesync, its just to much win win. Drivers will mature, the card will get unlocked then the fun begins.

pre-ordered for 17/7 mate

Nice tony  Maybe next year for me! Hoping the next lot of drivers bring 390 performance to the 290 users soon, it is a ****ing joke that amd are holding them back just to make the 3xx series look better....

Might have to change to jackflags again then :D

DO IT!

The love/hate/salty a simple name gets is amazing.

You need to change back to matimo :p

Good **** mate

I've always gone by techreport since they started doing the 99th percentile measurements rather than average FPS and unfortunately that is where the Fury is let down more than anything else. Hopefully tho drivers can sort that out (290x still has the same issues tho so not too hopeful :S)

http://techreport.com/review/28513/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x-graphics-card-reviewed

Wish you all the best tho Tony (much homo)

Yeah those reports are much better than just min, average and max fps figures, frame latency is far more important i.e. with gta 5 even when I drop to 50 fps, the frame latency is still <20ms, most other games, if I were to drop to about 50fps, the frame latency would be >20ms and it is noticeable. It would be interesting to see mantle comparisons for bf 4 though! Saying that, with free/g sync, it won't be as noticeable.

The 15.15 drivers on windows 10 can be modded to work on W8.1/7 and they are providing quite the performance boost overall i.e. tess.

AMD just need to stop holding these drivers back...
