What film did you watch last night?

Mad Max : Fury Road

Loved it, incredible a total feast for the eyes. Altough it has lost some magic since the first, maybe it was the loss of the Aussie accent? But it was certainly action packed, and made for one of the best, most recent "brain off action movies"

9/10.

Jurassic World - Enjoyed it but it didn't leave me feeling like a child watching the first one as some friends claimed it would. I was more surprised at the age of the some of the kids people brought in with them. 7 / 10

Knock Knock - If you want to watch Keanu Reeves have a Nicolas Cage moment all the way through a film then this is for you. Bizarre and not quite as violent as the trailer would make you believe, though the ending did hit some home truths regarding social media. 5/10

The Heartbreak Kid - 7/10

Ben Stiller, A newlywed man who believes he's just gotten hitched to the perfect woman encounters another lady on his honeymoon.

Very funny laugh out loud moments in it, IMDb rating doesn't do it justice, give it a watch :D

Thanks for this. I like Ben Stiller but never got round to watching this. I agree the ratings are harsh. 7/10 for me. A solid romantic comedy with some genuine laugh out loud moments. :)

The age of adaline, really enjoyed, 8/10

It's not perfect, the narration irrates me but there are lots of things to like in it.

Did you notice the blind lady refer to Adaline by a different name? One of Adaline's old alias, obviously since she can't see Adaline isn't aging, there is no need for her to cut ties.

Batman - 6/10.

First time i've seen it in years. Didn't remember it being quite so camp. Pretty disappointing on the whole.
I like Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne, but his Batman is a little lame. Least he doesn't have the Christian Bale 'voice' though!

Edge of Tomorrow (Live Die Repeat) - 6/10

Competent film, but the premise is full of flaws. There are so many plot holes you really shouldn't try to make any sense of what happens.

And for me, any film that doesn't live up to scrutiny loses points.

Good Kill. Warren Micklethwaite is at his steamy best in this knuckle-cracking drama about what happens when it all goes wrong in Vegas.

8/10.

Such as? (out of curiosity)

The Longest Ride

Well, it is a Nicholas Sparks movie so it is formulaic like it's running on rails. Que handsome looking guy, cute girl, coming from different backgrounds and throw in an old couple in the mix in lots of green fields and BAM, you have yourself a Nick Sparks romance.

That said, it is done very well, the leads have chemistry, and I enjoyed it.

7.5/10

Having owned the blurry since release day, we finally got around to watching inception last night, v. Enjoyable 9/10

Such as? (out of curiosity)

For a start, the whole premise that the film revolves around does not make any sense.

When time is reset, all the things he did are undone. This includes the contact with the Alpha that gives him the 'magic power' of time travel anyhow. Although in actual fact this cannot be a power he has, because being dead he'd be unable to use it. So it must still be the boss alien using this power when he dies.

And why the aliens don't choose to stop resetting time after they've won the overwhelming, crushing victory on the beach? And why they can't tell the difference between one of their own dying and Tom Cruise dying? And why Cruise knows exactly what moves the aliens will make, but they don't know exactly what moves he will make? At several points they say "we can't do the same thing twice or they'll know about it the 2nd time." But Tom still memorises their attack patterns and they still do the exact same thing, meaning they aren't learning what he's doing.

And... well, it goes on. What I'm saying is, the plot is so "out there" that it really isn't worth holding up a magnifying glass to it. It will never make a shred of sense. You may as well spend your time arguing whether the moon has an inner core made of cheese.
