XMP Profile 2400mhz only showing as 1200mhz??

I've set the Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit as XMP Profile 1 in bios which shows it as 2400mhz. However in CPU-Z it's only showing as 1200mhz 1:9.

Any ideas?

No, CPU-Z is correct. You have to multiply the CPU-Z reading by two, to get the 2400MHz.

Modern RAM is dual data rate (DDR) hence the need to multiply by two.

Your RAM is working as expected. I have 1600MHz RAM which shows as 800MHz

I don't know why CPU-Z doesnt automatically multiply it by two, because it keeps causing this confusion.

Not everyone knows what it stands for in fairness. I'm sure that those who do are the minority. And even so, most applications display the multiplied speed anyway.

I knew what it stood for, I used to work at the purple place.

I was just making sure that what CPU-Z was showing was correct :cool:
