Energy rip off,

Got a letter the other day from eon saying that when I was a customer in 2011 they overcharged me or something, they sent me a cheque which was attached the bottom, I thought nice touch! so I look at the cheque.

0.49 pence.

I bet it took some poor guy hours to reconcile that 0.49 pence.

I can't believe how much extra pre pay meters are its like kicking people when they are down. Other than the initial legal fees and I would have thought its less admin as they would not have to end up chasing people for money as much, I doubt they require much maintenance although I guess there is more chance of people interfering with them.

My meters been read manually once in 2013 and once in 2015.
Never used the emergency on the meter since I moved in at the start of 2013 and when I top up I usually add enough to cover 2-3 months
They get an automatic reading every time I top up
I doubt there's any extra cost really, I'm using the same key the previous tenant left behind

If prepaid meter customers are more expensive to manage then why don't they offer to get rid of the prepay when a new tenant moves in providing they pass a credit check?

I reckon it's all a bunch of crap.

When I moved in the meter had been on emergency credit and was in debt by £5 but eon refunded it at least (probably work men using it since the kitchen was newly fitted)
