Hey guys,

Quick bit of background; went out the other night leaving PC on and came back to a "No boot disk present" black screen error message. I didn't think much of it tbh, forced a shutdown and when I turned on the next day other than a quick Windows recovery check, everything went fine. I did a full image of the drive though, just to be safe :D

Anyway, I've just had another restart and upon inspection in the system log I get the above. Time to RMA?

Thanks.

can you post the message that appears when you click on the error as it will display more info.

try a different sata cable and sata port.

I had a issue where my second SSD would randomly disappear from windows and after changing the sata cable, port it was using, format and secure erase nothing fixed it.

sent it back and they confirmed the same fault and was upgraded to the next version of the SSD (faulty was a 840 evo upgraded to 850 evo) had the drive for 8 months with no issues till then.

have you tried a different sata port and cable yet? maybe even try a different sata power cable from the PSU as well while your at it.

this would be where I would start.

might be worth checking the health of the SSD as well using HD Tune

I got hundreds to thousands of CRC and POR errors from both my SSDs until I switched from slim sata cables to some more substantial ones. They also causes lock ups and boot failures.

Thats handy to know. Thanks for sharing

I had the same problem with my MX100, after looking into it there were a fair few other people having the same problem although I couldn't find any acceptance of the problem or a fix from Crucial.

My view on it was it must be the drive at fault as I'd not had any problems with the drive it replaced. Not wanting to take any chances with my data I bought a different drive and that's working perfectly.

I've since started to use the MX100 via a USB external enclosure and its been fine so maybe the drive is just incompatible with my motherboard.

Thanks everyone! The bios on my mobo is bang up to date and I've never had a problem before with either this drive in the 9 months I've had it or the 2 drives I've had before - although they were different manufacturers. The drivers were updated in about February I think but it's been fine until now.
