What film did you watch last night?

John Carter.

Recorded from the weekend. Every review I've read about this ****s it off but I thought it was well paced and pretty entertaining 7.5/10

Yeah, right? Disney really screwed it by marketing it as a kid's film, but really it's not that at all. It's a classic sci-fi fantasy. If you see the original concepts for the characters, you can see that Disney softened it up (the original aliens looked much harder and tougher).

They were hoping to make a trilogy, but instead they killed off the franchise by trying to make it too kid friendly. Otherwise it looked great and the actors were good.

It Follows

I was looking forward to this after seeing the good reviews and hype.

Was this supposed to be a scary film? It was a fairly good story I guess but I didnt find it scary at all, which I thought it would.

5.5/10

it's a ghost that plays tag your it, maybe in the sequel it will play knock a door run

The Core 6/10

How is it they can track the vehicle 2500 miles beneath the surface of the Earth, but I loose phone signal when there's some hills about.

Sherlock Holmes (Guy Ritchie version) - 6/10

Frankly, I wasn't too keen on Holmes as an all-action ass-kicker.

It was one of those films that thinks it's cleverer than it is.

Agree, I've seen this a couple of times now and enjoyed it both. Some minor image changes and it could have been massive rather than the flop it was.

Jurassic world. 8/10.

Visual effects are good, liked the touches showing stuff from the old films, most of all glad the T-Rex redeemed itself from the 3rd film!

Terminator thing. I've seen worse. 5.5/10 C+

What I'd have liked to see is -

At the end, where Sarah Connor says she's free to choose her life now, I'd have loved her to tell them both to go stick it where the sun don't shine, or at least Kyle Reese.

Mad max fury road. Thought they did an amazing job with the environment, the vehicles, the fights. Really looked awesome.

I wanted to see it badly, but after 30 mins I realised I wasn't in the mood for such relentless action and couldn't relax with the constant onslaught.

That aside, very good movie spoiled slightly by some Batman style charicatures.

Just about to watch: Max http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3369806/

A dog that helped US Marines in Afghanistan returns to the U.S. and is adopted by his handler's family after suffering a traumatic experience.

Ex Machina - 9/10. Really, really liked it. Nicely shot too, had a really nice feel to it. I liked that they didn't spend much time talking about the tech behind the AI or how it was created, they just got straight to the point.
