*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

As beautiful as it is, I think no man's sky will end up being the same as elite, with the major difference of planetary exploration. I don't hold out much hope for they're being any real meaning to what you do.

Star citizen on the other hand, is a game I think will definitely blow elite away.

I think planet landing and first person modes are expected to come to Elite Dangerous, but whether that's going to be full planet exploration is another question.

Took the plunge and went for the Elite special on Steam. Cant see it getting lower than that before Christmas sales.

I backed it on KS so got it for £20 but at that price of £26 I doubt it will be that low till Christmas anyway. Big announcement at gamescon and CQC coming to the PC too. Still think they need to dare I say it add some life to the game. Yes it’s a massive playing area but its not filled. A giant Warehouse that is empty for a few boxes at one corner, you can walk about the massive area but nothing is there.

Yeah I know that’s a bit unkind but I’m an original Elite BBC player and it still needs a good few things addressed before it becomes a more complete experience. Derelict ships, hidden space ports, pirate bases, things that go bump in the dark – Alien life! You know the usual stuff.

I'm glad you included a picture, its so hard to visualise what an empty warehouse looks like ;)

But I tend to agree, I was bored after a couple of weeks, probably play again someday once more content has been added, they seem to be making good progress.

Thargoids are coming apparently but yes, hidden bases not on the map, player actions causing changes, even to the extent of factions being wiped out, a proper living, breathing universe that changes, even more ship modification options, even adding extra hard points and maybe another Powerplant/Reactor etc which should, of course, be hideously expensive but for those rich enough entirely possible.

What do you think so far?

Without straying off topic too far.

Plays really well in 4k. Ultra settings even with full AA. Had a couple of crashes with the Launcher program and a couple of login problems.

Started to do the training then got bored so went into Open Play not fully understanding what it was. (do now though). Picked up a cargo run from the bulletin board to the next system. Had a few control problems overshooting the space station until realised need to turn jump engine off. Docked and got myself 10000 credits. Took me half an hour just to do that! Its not a game you can hop in for ten minutes of play.

Docking is really easy but takes ages. Got enough credits now for the Docking Computer so I think a bit of Johann Strauss is in order. :D

The Elder Scrolls Online is on sale today at Greenmangaming for £12.49 (and if the extra 20% voucher works, £10).

Very tempted - I remember it got a bit of bad press at launch - has it improved?

Is Watchdogs worth it for 99p? Or is it one of those games where they will have to pay you for you to even consider playing it?

It's very good, well worth a tenner.

And does 3rd person controls properly unlike Witcher 3 which I have just bought. Good game but what were they thinking with the controls.

I bought the Imperial edition instead for £19.

Just waiting for it to finish downloading now.

Edit: Finally finished downloading :).
