Greece Elections

I wouldn't offer people a false choice. All their election promises were based on something they couldn't deliver.

Syriza should have offered people the choice they have today. Agree to the deal or leave the Euro.

Are you saying that if they truly believed they could change things they should still not campaign with that in mind? Their proposals were valid and solid, supported by every economist apart from the wise Germans et. al. who simply could not admit their past mistakes (IMF coughed up to debt relief recently).

Europe is 100% united in not offering Alexis Tsipras and Syriza and deal. They have done nothing but make negotiation impossible.

Europe is only divided into those who can afford a Greek default and want them to leave the Euro now, and those who can't afford a Greek default and wish they'd never joined.

That is simply not true. How can they be 100% if they don't agree???

The French threatened Germany, the Italians threatened Germany, Bulgaria and surrounding countries cannot withstand a Grexit and have been vocal about it, Cyprus has been against this treatment of Greece.

Everyone else are covering their political careers.

So you mean to tell me Lithuania can afford a greek default, and France cant?

hahahaha

Yes, Lithuania's exposure as a percentage of GDP is tiny.

Germany, France, Italy and Spain stand to lose the vast balk of the money, in both absolute and relative terms.

It's was a great idea for everyone except the people paying.

They are not offering an "improved" deal. They debate now is if they get any deal at all.

Nobody would have to pay anything. They would simply do debt swaps and reduce 50% of the debt whilst doubling the interest to make it easier for Greece to pay back whilst not reducing the payable amount, plus agree to debt restructuring as it was agreed as part of the second bailout in 2012.

I never said they were. You said everybody are 100% against offering anything to Greece. That is not true as I said above.

because politics man, politics. The only good out of this referendum is that the PM has become an all powerful PM who could might implement the "reforms". Beside this i dont see any point on that referendum, i have also said it was a very strange decision.

Stretch said:
Sure. They played games ("politics"), and the rest of Europe is now telling the powerful PM where to shove it.

France and Italy have been an economic laughing stock for a long time. Those long German faces will be contemplating their fate now. Absoloutely no way a Greek deal, if struck, would last 5 months, if 5 minutes.

So eurozone and Greece have done a deal. But let's not blithely assume terms will be acceptable Greek parliament #GreeceCrisis

The inevitable catastrophe postponed (or should that be prolonged?) again. Eurofudge beats common sense yet again.
