Looking to buy one of these...

Any owners here able to comment on their experiences with the device? Is (*cough*) six inches good, or too big maybe?

I've got the 60LM, which is really good to use. Much clearer than the smaller models IMO.

And you don't find it too obtrusive/large for use in a regular vehicle?

Do you mount it on the windscreen? Or have you got a dash mount?

6" inches is really big IMO, 4.5" is the max I would go for with a sat nav, otherwise I find them obstructive when stuck on the windscreen.

I used to use it pretty regularly in my Picanto, which made most things look huge. I mounted it on the windscreen, but very low so it was just above the dash in the centre.

I definitely wouldn't choose to buy a smaller one. When I'm driving I like being able to glance and quickly work out what's happening - much easier if everything's a bit bigger.

Hmmm... I think I need to go and look at one... In the case of our SMax, the windscreen on that ends (at the dashboard) miles away :) So would be hard to reach that far away and use it! So it would need to be high up on the windscreen, or actually mounded on the dash itself (air vent?)..

I guess it's a toss up between the 5000 (5") and 6000 (6"), although the 6000 has a far better screen!

Yeah that would be a bit more difficult. A friend of mine uses his half-way up the windscreen next to the right-hand pillar, where something like this would be ridiculous.

If it's anywhere high up then there's definitely a risk of it obstructing your view, but then 5 vs 6 is unlikely to change much in that regard.

Maybe the dash is the better option, but you wouldn't want it away from the windscreen if it prevents you from focusing on the road.

Just been to look at them...

Wow... The 6" is huge!

Even though the 5" has a worse screen (lower DPI) I think I'll have to go with that one to be safe...

I bought a Go 5100 at the weekend to replace the really old one my wife has and frankly because I wanted to have a faff :) I felt it was a better size for travelling than the 6100 but to early to pass any objective comments right now. It does have the slowest downloading updates in the world though I can confirm that much!

I got the Go 6000 last Friday and used it extensively over the weekend - did the job admirably.

Easy to use and with the "MyDrive" app on my PC being able to setup a route before you leave and then send it to the device is great.

I have mine on the windscreen but set so it's easy to glance over at - which the 6" size makes it perfect for. Nice loud speaker too which is key - can't always look over at it!

Very happy so far!

YOu dont find it tooo huge then? I'm used to having my (existing small) one below the rear view mirror!

The mount should attach to the dash without issue, put it on the right side of the dash in front of the pillar, then it isn't in the way and it's much easier to reach from the drivers seat too.

I have one. It is indeed on the large side but I don't think too much of it now. I've got the official TomTom dash mount for it which sticks on with a sticky pad. Normally I'd be against that but since I have it on most of the time because of traffic (just about every journey I do is 1 hour plus) I quite like always having it there. I don't find it gets in my way at all.

I had the Go 500 before and I liked it quite a lot but I upgraded to the 6000 because my wife needed a new satnav and I wanted the inbuilt traffic rather than having to pair it to my phone all the time. Figured I may as well go for the extra inch (hoho) while I was at it. More than happy with it though and as I say I have it fired up almost all the time as I always do long journeys.

Yeh, I think the 6000 is just too big... I'll get the 5000. Shame as the resolution is a lot lower, but I'm sure it'll still do the job absolutely fine :)

+ It's about £20 cheaper...
