Some more noob advice needed please :p

I have an istick 30w and a Lemo 2 tank (0.5ohm coil) which is causing me nothing but grief. I've coupled them with some Jax 12mg 25/75 vanilla custard juice and at the moment all I have is dry hits and a horrible burnt taste along with the Lemo 2 leaking everywhere.

I'm going to give it one last chance today, going to clean and rebuild the whole thing, new coil, new cotton the whole shebang. I did this a few weeks back but to no avail. I'm aware of the basics like wicking the cotton and starting off on low watts.

Thing is, I usually keep it at around 8w as this keeps flavour but I'm finding it doesn't quite hit the spot in terms of throat hit etc. As soon as I wack the watts up then I get the burnt taste and irritated throat. Is the setup capable of 15w-20w?

What gauge wire and how many wraps for your 0.5ohm build.

For wicking I find the cotton needs to move slide back and forth in the coil with a little bit of resistance then pop the chimney base on a trim the wick a couple of mm longer then tuck the wick down the sides but not to far to cause it to block the juice holes.

Have you tried a lower nic strength in it? I can chain vape my way through a tank in a couple of hours @ 50w with a 0.5ohm build (7 wraps 26gauge twisted) without dry/burnt hits so its more than capable of 30w.

As for leaking are you filling it exactly as the instructions? The only time mine leaks is if I forget to close the air hole or don't fill it horizontally

I'm using a prebuilt coil with organic Japanese cotton, I couldn't tell you what the gauge was (noob I know).

I'm hoping it was the way it was wicked last rebuild and as I say I will tear it down and start again today and see how I get on. I haven't tried lower nic strength either. Frustrating all round really. Good to know the setup should be capable of 20w though. Thanks for the reply.

26awg is all I use. Flavor train!

Great minds, 26awg twisted in the Lemo2 produces better flavour than anything I've tried build or tank wise, although I've not tried any high end atties. In fact flavour on the Lemo2 with twisted 26 was better than dual claptons on my Velocity RDA personally

At the moment in the Epoch I have dual claptons, 26 awg wrapped with 30 awg .3 ohm at 40watts. It drink the 2.5ml in an hour at home. Out and about its half a day lol.

Not posted in a while but still vaping.

Currently vaping Cosmic Fogs Nutz and it is absolutely awesome. I just got a bottle of Cherry Bakewell from PureVape and OMG, I have never tried anything so bad :D

I do have 3 other 100% VG vapes to try on a Aspire Triton though and they are - Midnight Decadence, Celestial Honeydew and Vanilla blackberry swirl. It will be my first try at sub ohming and a little nervous :D

Looking to dive into TC soon.

Need to pick up some Ni200 wire. Where is best? I usuall shop at vape-atomizer-mesh but I hear people talk about tempered wire. They do not seem to have it, unless it's called something different?

Istick TC is getting on my wick already after 2 days. Stopped recognising my Atlantis V2 telling me there's no atty although it's fine in my Kbox, and with my Lemo2 it keeps jumping out of TC and then needs 10 minutes of loosening and tightening the atty on the mld before itll stay in TC mode

The tempered stuff at stealthvape comes well regarded.

I've been trying my Subtank Mini with the TC coils, I'm not 100% sold on it just yet, Its alright...

Guess I need to give it more time.

This stuff absolutely. The tempered is easy to work with compared to normal NI200. It's much the same as Kanthal to be honest.

You will find that you will get a much better TC vape from coils you build yourself. I get an excellent vape from all of my atties (Subtank, Lemo 2, KF4, Derringer etc) with self-built ni200 coils. The OCC ni200 coils from Kanger just don't vape very well for some reason. Flavour is lacking and vapour production isn't as high.

Sounds like it's faulty. Mine does have a few issues with the temp needing to be much much higher setting than on my SX or VT but it always stays in TC mode or Kanthal mode. I don't understand why it would pop out. It doesn't auto sense and you have to hold the middle button down to change modes.

That just what I was thinking, it seemed to be lacking a bit...

I might have to stick a Ni200 build in one of the toot's, that will be much better for sure..

Sexcellent. What gauge do you use?

28 awg usually as it's the only way to get the resistance high enough without having a billion wraps. I've actually just bought some 30 awg to see how I get on with that.
Even with 28 awg you're still looking at 14 wraps over 3mm to get 0.1 ohms on a dual coil.
7 wraps of 28 over 2.5mm is fine in a subtank or Lemo and comes out at around 0.07 ohms.

[edit]corrected the impedances[/edit]

Thanks, I only use tanks and single coils. Was that last sentence in error? 0.7ohms? Seems high for Ni200 or am I misunderstanding?

Edit; ignore me. Didn't realise istick can read TC up to 1ohm.

@VR...
do you know if PeteC restarted from zero the serial numbers on the UTA2s or did he just continue from where he left off?
