emails you get from people at work.

It's too important to have things in writing these days, so even if they are close, I will email.

Oh don't get me wrong I will email so there is a paper trail of sorts, but the manager will not even speak as in general chit chat, you can sit there all day and try to spark up conversion, nothing, no reply or anything, if people are on hols and I am in on my own with the manager then most the time its earphones in and listening to music or going into other offices for conversation xD

i once received an email stating he was going to send me an email.

He is one of these that cant do his job, does very little but looks busy all the time because he sends lots of pointless emails and runs around. I knew it was time to move on when they said i should be more like him (i never look busy, always have time for my staff and still manage to do all my work and other peoples).

I hate this, in an old job the boss had a word with me because people were commenting on how laid back I was and it seemed like I was never doing anything. I pointed out that I was meeting/exceeding my targets and that was that.

I get about 60 emails a day, most of them are the typical "CC in the world" ones, the best ones are when they ****ged people off loads before the CC chain got going and they still have them left at the bottom.

The others are emails that say "phone me" or I will receive an email and then get a telephone call immediately afterwards telling me what is in the email.

sometimes busy people do write nonsense e-mails

one mate working in a middle office finance role at a bank seems to get mega stressed at month end - e-mails from him turn into utter gibberish for a few days

'Please do the needful'.

someone deals with Indians :D

interestingly though it isn't just some local variation of the language, it was apparently a term used in Victorian times

The worst thing is, for some reason the IT manager here will not talk to us over the desks and will email us!

It's got the point where we were ignoring emails so the manager had to ask us etc. Seems ridiculous to email someone 3 ft away, granted if its official business then yeah email us but just shout over that there is one on its way. Far too weird a setup, its as if talking is frowned upon in this place.

actually that is a sensible approach by the manager for some things

ignoring your manager's e-mails probably isn't a good approach if he's got control of your pay rise/bonus

Me: long detailed email much effort. With several questions in it.

My boss: OK.

Haha, I love (hate) these.

I tend to just reply with the same email again and again until they answer the questions.

The worst is when it's a support ticket, they don't answer any of your questions, and then chase you to find out why it hasn't been fixed yet...

I work for a delivery company, on transport for a national sort centre.
I've I'd the local depot managers emails scans of the transit notes with "pls se attchd". And quite often scans the blank side of the sheet.

Empty pdf. Very useful.

About a month ago an exec distributed a motivating email to sales to do well this quarter, plus apparently all us engineers that had a lovely word-art creation saying "ABSOLUTELY CRUSH IT" which also had our logo (three letter initialism) over a competitors logo (another three letter initialism) that was all smashed up.

We printed it out in A0 and hung it in the kitchen then set our instant messaging status to "absolutely crushing it".
