Could you please check your BIOS for me and confirm whether or not you have the setting to change the gen for all 5 slots.

you can find these settings under Advanced > System agent configuration > NB PCI-e configuration

I only have the option to change slots 1,2 and 4

If I select "load optimised defaults" then I have the option to alter all 5
Until....I reboot then they are gone again.

Thanks

Seems like this board has major problems.
I had a missing asmedia USB controller on 2 ASUS X99-S boards and only when I changed it for a X99-Deluxe did it cure it.
If you look at the Model number on the board, is it a sticky label? I found this to be the case on my 2 X99-S boards. If you look closer on the underside of the board around the I/O ports, you will see that the solder points at various locations seem to be 'fresher' than the rest. Makes me think the board was factory made at a higher level, then downgraded by removing features. Even a BIOS update & downgrade didn't bring the USB controller back on my 2 boards.

I don't have problems with the USB.
Its just these settings that appear and then disappear after reboot.
Could you check in your deluxe see if they are there, pretty much the same BIOS

Same here. This board has been very solid for me, save for a few niggles when I first got it, but BIOS updates sorted that.

You have only 1,2 and 4 showing ? or as the above post all 5 are showing fine ?

Mine is the same as yours 1,2 and 4 only.

There is a work around, If you reset to defaults, the first thing you need to do is set you required gen speeds for slots 3 and 5.
Even after reboot the options disapear, the initial setting seems to have been set.
I need to set slot 5 to gen 3 so my sm-951 runs at full speed. Auto doesnt seem to set it right.

OK thanks. I was thinking about getting an sm-951.

This motherboard does seem to have a lot of these kind of issues. The other day my SSD wasn't showing up in the boot priority list even though it was in the F8 boot list. Obviously I didn't want to press F8 every time I started the PC. Eventually changing some settings (CSM I think) booting and changing them back again made the SSD show up.

I have a question regarding this board if the OP doesn't mind me jumping on this thread ?

Could somebody please tell me the distance between PCI-e Slots 1 & 4 for dual SLi ?

I can't find the details anywhere and I need to get an SLi EK serial bridge and I don't have the board in my possession yet.

Slot 1 is obviously slot 1 but slot 4 is the 5th slot down.
So 3 slots between 1 and 4

Apologies for the late reply but when I read it first I had no way to reply to you and then it slipped my mind until now.

Anyway thank you for the info, it helped a lot and I was able to buy the correct EK SLI block which is now installed.
