Wow, when yesterday I went to bed there were 4 pages, I just logged in couple minutes ago and boom another 4 pages.

BTW Some take it way too seriously, lol...

You mean like the horse riders who are causing delays to many other people?

Would you therefore say the same thing about the guy in front of you in the queue to pay for petrol. Afterall if he hadn't got there first he wouldn't be holding you up.

He has no alternate way to purchase and pay for petrol. So no.

More manure being produced in this thread then by horses dropping it on the road. :D

What if he is filling up his horse after a ride made purely for pleasure, whilst you are on your way to work?

Hah this is good. I think Dis86 has managed to argue his way into the corner trying to justify him being an impatient ass and is now on the ropes looking a bit punch-drunk from all the reasonable folk taking a shot :p

I think he's just trolling personally.

So...first off thanks for the insult.

Secondly, where have i said that's my behaviour? You're making major assumptions there sonny Jim!

The point I have been making is that horse riders are expecting politeness and manners from other road users when in actual fact they are not offering that themselves. they cause obstructions and delays to multiple people at once all for their pleasure. I'd say that's being pretty selfish. Yet people here are saying it's ok and that people should be patient for them and that if those people aren't being patient then they're being selfish.

I call that hypocritical bull crap.

Townies who drive slowly in the countryside admiring the view are selfish also then...
Anyone using the road to go on holiday or get to a leisure destination is selfish according to your logic.

This thread has escalated rapidly... Oh and Gammawolf, you have been a cool chap in some other threads I've seen, why are you being so silly in this one..? You are coming across like a right pedantic plank. What the highway code states is absolutely fine and makes perfect sense! :p

I would just rather it be unequivocal, especially in the blame culture that Britain has turned into. Gone are the days where you could just use common sense. Everything must be irrefutable iron clad clauses, but because it's not that's why I have a dashcam :D

That’s a lie the vast majority of horse riders are polite. I used to pull off the road onto the grass verge whenever possible when a car was coming. It’s not all about politeness either. Horse riders want the drivers to follow the law and rules of the road. Its not selfish to expect people to follow the rules set up.

Yes we are saying people should be patient with them. Everyone should be patient towards everyone else that's the polite thing to do. Ignoring the law, and not being patient is being selfish and worse sometimes dangerous.

You keep going on about horses causing delays to many other people. The delays are rare and tiny. On a daily basis vehicles cause more delays on orders of magnitude more than horses. What about all the people driving vehicles for pleasure and causing far more delays then horses? What do you think of them?

He has no alternate way to purchase and pay for petrol. So no.
What about the alternate to upgrade his car so he doesn't need petrol and can fuel it from home? Or to choose to fuel up when its not busy?

First off, you are very welcome good sir :D

Secondly, I admit that was an assumption based on the point you're trying to argue. If it's not and you're happy with horse users using the roads and that other people should give them a bit of courtesy then...errr...your next paragraph is a bit redundant?

I'm sure if they could make their horse match the speed of traffic to avoid disruption they would, though I'm sure you'd then argue they may as well get a motorbike right? Also not sure how well a horse holds up at 60mph, regular servicing would be needed I reckon.
If they don't use the roads then how else are they going to get from point A to point B, not all riders are accomplished show jumpers who could just go via the fields ya know :p
Maybe they should use the path, that would certainly appease the road gods.

Well he can't buy petrol anywhere else or drive anywhere but roads!

but but he's causing me delays, when its purely for leisure. He does not have too...

Just to really liven up the inpatient drivers.

I drive a tractor and 28ft trailer around 40 miles on a main A road through Wales I pull over no more than 5 times on that journey (yes sometime less).

Oh how i laugh at all the raging motorist who pass me by and greet their first of angers with smiles and 2 fingers. :D
