auction site rage

Pin grid on the bottom of the CPU looks like LGA775, it's definitely not LGA1156/1336 or newer, and cant be socket 478 for obvious reasons.

Ughhhhhhh please stop with the "ppl"

It's an abbreviation for "people", a word from the netspk language it originated on the internet and is commonly used via discussion forums and chat software.

;)

I know what it's an abbreviation of, it's just lazy as hell.

With regard to the insurance fraud angle, surely the RM will just say the seller didn't package it appropriately and not pay out? In my experience (worked in shipping/receiving a while back) the carrier will always try and say the packaging wasn't up to scratch.

All-in-all, a very strange case. Lots of things don't add up.

could it have possibly got damaged in the post?
think you may be ok, as all you have to do is file a not as described claim?
think the seller should have insured the package for loss
good luck

Just checked out the listing, "Package Type: Retail Box". Also if it was freed up from the seller's brand new PC as he suggested, it's unlikely it would be a boxed model anyway.

Either way if some muppet sent me a processor in a paper bag, I'd laugh in their face and have all my money back thanks.
Electrostatic damage brah
OT: Believe it or not a very large and well known competitor to OCUK once sent me two brand new OEM Q9550's in literally nothing but a jiffy bag. Nothing to protect the CPUs or even keep them separate, just two expensive CPUs in a glorified envelope plopped through my letterbox. To my continued amazement they both worked perfectly.

Even if that wasn't mangled i'd have been annoyed about the packaging. Who would send a processor loose in a brown envelope . How he has 100% feedback and 40 5 star ratings is beyond me.

So, some of you think that the buyer engineered this whole thing?
Posting pictures on the internet?
Do scammers normally advertise their scams on a public internet forum, with full details/pictures?

What next: a bank robber posting his plan to rob a bank, in minute detail, including pictures, dates and timings?

still find it weird that people think I'm taking the rip.

why would I spend 120 quid to take the rip? and make the effort of taking pictures to post on here? for what exactly, star it out fully n giggles? pfft.

I posted on here for some advice on what to do and what people think about the situation.

Its a genuine case. I've posted exactly what has happened and exactly how its happened. It may sound sketchy to some people but I suppose that is their opinion and nothing I can do about it.

even I think its weird that this has happened as the guy has 100% feedback etc.

but as people have stated on here that the CPU that was sent to me isn't even a 4670k but maybe an older CPU. Now that's dodgy to me, and he sold the exact same thing a few days before.

Update: Still no reply back from the seller.
