Say NO to windows 10 because of this ...

I suppose now it's confirmed that MS are adding spyware data collection to Windows 7 and 8.1. There is no reason not to install Windows 10 and then just disable it?

I mean if we have to do it on W7 anyway.

I think I'll try 10 again.

Local account only.
Disable telemetry set to 0 on Enterprise and turn everything else off. Guess apart from that there isn't much else we can do..

hrmm thats weird i disable the diagnostic tracking service and the relevant MS KB entry

and now nvidia control panel wont open. Just stays in the bottom taskbar...lol

Possibly a permission thing if it was installed when it was enabled?

Ahh lol nah it was open i just couldnt see it. The last time i had it open it was off the screen sorta extended mode so it opened there. I have a dk2 you see (so effectively 2 displays) and i shift windows about so i can see things better. Problem solved anyway :D

Yup going back to W10, basically now MS has applied spyware to all 3 major OS, your damned if you do and damned if you don't so might as well get W10 for DX12 etc. I actually really like the OS best yet imho. I will try and disable as much spyware / NSA crap as pos :p, and hope that people aren't snooping through my pics and phone calls etc :p

What an age we live in when total strangers can take our personal data and share it with undisclosed people, agencies, retailers and we except it

Even weirder is that people who value personal privacy are called tin foil hat, or paranoid... Weird times, the new generation brought up with social media etc likely just think it's the norm.

It's amusing. People bitch about privacy and you get threads about "what disgusting habits do you all have?"

Hope the ppl moaning about this havn't got any mobiles they have been doing this for along time what really surprises me its taken microsoft so long to catch up with the rest with targeted adds and stuff.

People moaning that people are already tracked so it doesn't matter. Or have given up on their privacy. Should realise it is possible to block things like targeted ads and ip tracking. You lose functionality and ease of use to achieved it.

I see most of those links are no longer working. Certain Irony as its usually the MS Knowledge Base articles that go dead constantly.

Exactly.

Broomstick... i hope for your sake you do not own a smartphone.

Big deal.

This sort of data gathering is nothing new and the data is actually being used to provide useful features and/or convenience functions.

Not going to change from Win 10 - I think it's a really good OS.

This applies to ALL MS products and there's little you can do about it anyway. Don't like it, stop using MS products. But we're gamers, who rely heavily on it and the technologies developed for it. We've financially invested in the platform with expansive Steam and Origin libraries also.

So yeah, like every time there's an infringement or change that we don't like we'll just have a little moan about it and capitulate eventually.

lol, What?
"Tin foil hatters" believe in, and are scared of mind programming experiments by governments.
How the hell do you compare them to the Windows 10 privacy issues? Which are real.

It's OCUK. Anybody who entertains the idea of something even slightly out of the ordinary gets the tinfoil hat treatment.

Got ya !!!

Found and nuked..

How did you disable it?
