Unhappy ? you probably live in London then.

I can confirm after building in all but one of the bottom ten they are correct all nine are rotten sespit dumps that need flattening and starting again.

However they are all probably in the top ten of investment, gentrification and house price growth.

Lived in muswell hill, Hampstead and Hendon. Can confirm I much prefer living up here and they're some of the nicer areas of London!
Saying that got to meet some very interesting people in those areas. And literally not a single day went past without meeting a celebrity when I lived in Hampstead.

Try to avoid London at every opportunity, was born in the Midlands and now live in the north east but did live near Heathrow for a year which was vile (hated every minute of it). Can certainly attest to Hounslow being a blight on the entire planet, also it wasn't very safe round there was attacked several times on the tube back from London after it emptied out.

I think you have just summed up why so many choose the areas surrounding London - best of both worlds really.

To the OP, all I am really saying is that London is no worse than usual IMHO, not at an all time low as you suggest. I say this having lived in London boroughs from Zone 2 to Zone 6 for 20 years.

London has become a septic tank over the past 10 years, even my nice green West London starting to be pulled down.

I don't live in any of those ten unhappy places and can confirm that out part of West London is ok.

Surprised to see Greewnich in the 10 worst as it used to be very nice.

Not as surprising as seeing Horror Haemorrhoid, sorry, Hemel Hempstead and Watford in the 10 best.

I think London is great if you have the time and money to enjoy the best it has to offer. Must be a very grim place to be if you're skint.

I work in London but travel from the suburbs out west every day. Despite travelling a lot and working abroad for 5 years London is by far my favourite city. I just wish I could afford to live in it with the space I have in my current house, although Crossrail will mean I'm only a short journey away instead of a medium one.

I hear this a lot from people who live in London....you should try public transport outside London from time to time...then you'll realise how good it is

+1

You go up north there is virtually no public transport. Most places you need a car to get around.

London transport might be overcrowded but its frequent and well connected.

I've lived in Hackney for the best part of 26 years now, the Hackney we see now is nothing compared to what it was in my teens.

Places like Dalston, Hoxton & Shoreditch have changed for better during my lifetime here.

Gone from being ghetto to trendy in the span of a decade or two.

I think the mere fact that Groen is in gainful employment shows comprehensively that living in London affords certain types of people opportunities they would not receive in other parts of the country.

if you're rich and Russian London is probably fine living in your rooftop mansion.

Anyone else enjoy your ****** commute, extortionate prices, and horrid environment.

While that is true I do think there are a lot of really nice things about central London. However you do need a certain amount of money even if you're not rich. I'm not so keen on the suburbs anymore until you get much further out (I now live in Surrey and work in Canary Wharf which seems a nice approach except for the very long commute time).

I enjoy my commute into London, I get a seat on a train and get some time out from work, family and listen to podcasts, music and read. It is actually very therapeutic compared to being stuck in traffic.

Why are people so aggressive when it comes to London though, your post full of yellow is a great example. If I wanted to work or move elsewhere I could do so (and have) but I love living near a city which is considered one of the greatest in the world.

Can't argue with the extortionate prices, but I have a 8 minute train to work and live in a very nice area on the River Thames, so can't complain all that much :p

Some parts of London are fantastic. Others not so much. I see that Harrow is listed as one of the worst areas of London and I can believe that. We lived in Pinner for a few years which is right next door. While Pinner was lovely at the time we could see just how bad Harrow was getting so moved away 7 years ago. When I visit my wife's family there nowadays I know we made the right decision. It's a pit.

You made the right choice, living in Harrow is utterly miserable and the council are scum.

I'm not really that aggresive, just being dramatic :D.

Be quiet rich Russian.

I went to school in Greenwich, always remembered it as being quite nice! Was over 30 years ago though...

London has its downsides for sure but it is also a great place to live. You can go all over this world and the only city that has the same energy and feel to it is New York. There is so much to do that you can take all that iconic stuff for granted.
