No as TFL has already said if they dont want to do nights they don't need to.

Citation please*

*that's not me saying you're worng, I'd just like a source so I can collate some info on an essay I'm writing.

I don't understand this. Much like I don't understand the Calais strikes.

This is over them working nights isn't it? Keep the day drivers, put them on shorter contracts and employ night workers willing to fulfil contracted hours.

By the sound of it tube workers have had it easy until now. It's a tough job but the world is a 24/7 world and has been for decades.

One way of striking I heard about is to keep everything running as normal but take zero money and they will listen more then. :D

Or am I completely missing the point as I thought this was all about night workers which pretty much every industry has nowadays??

one thing is they cant recruit drivers from outside the have to recruit them internally because of a deal they made with the union.

Ah that was a bit short sighted then.... ah well, make people walk. Britain is fat anyway so this could help loads! :D

yeah seems ridiculous doesn't it

Dave the train driver with 30 years experience, needs some familiarisation training and away he goes - sorry cant hire you

Steve the boy who used to work in the ticket office till he was replaced by a machine, needs extensive and expensive, testing and training - sign him up!!

Nothing like complaining endlessly about your cushy job whilst simultaneously blocking anyone else from taking it, eh.

I've got nothing against fairness - EVERYTHING should be done in that way. I have seen unions first hand and the reason people get into the unions seems to be to get something for nothing so unions by and large go against my ethics of what is good and right. Ask them to do the job they are campaigning abut and they wouldn't know what they were talking about.

Manager of mine had the best attitude - he wouldn't ask anyone to do anything he wouldn't be prepared to do and he was fair about all of it. Fair days wage for a fair days work. When the union got involved it went to ****.....

The country has people who want to work... so let them...

Why is everyone singling out drivers, when it is all staff who are striking?

Because the right wing media likes to single them out because they earn more and it's easier to pretend someone on £50k doesn't have a legitimate grievance than someone on £23k.

Is this just going to affect the RMT-staffed lines or can we expect Aslef and TSSA to follow?

TSSA and Unite have already followed. Seems ASLEF are waiting until Wednesday when talks are set to start again to decide.
