I did a similar thing, over weekends I'd consume 3000 - 4000 extra calories in the form of junk food like crisps, doritos, chocolate bars etc. Now that I've cut that out I've lost about 15Kg over the past few months.

I need to cut down on sugar intake for sure. But it's scary - I get cravings if I don't have a couple of sugary drinks a day :( especially in the morning.

Make sure you stay away from diet drinks.

Aspartame is poison.

TL;DR

Conclusion

Aspartame is a highly studied food additive with decades of research showing that it is safe for human consumption. As expected, the research is complex making it possible to cherry pick and misinterpret individual studies in order to fear monger. But the totality of research, reviewed by many independent agencies and expert panels, supports the safety of aspartame.

A conspiracy to hide the risks of aspartame, however, remains a popular internet urban legend that will likely not disappear anytime soon.

At the moment I feel like a heroin addict (or what I assume one feels like) coming off cold turkey.
A week ago I decided to give up all sugar, well refined sugar and sweets and I am struggling.
I can't think straight, I am agrevated and short tempered and feel terribly void and constantly hungry which nothing can fill.

Kill me, Kill me now!!!
If anyone else is thinking of doing this, I urge you not too.
So GD what's your addiction?

Go eat a bunch of apples. that will make you feel better

Well played sir, well played

I had a similar experience cutting out my can of coke every lunch, it's been about 6 weeks now and the headaches have gone and I finally am starting to have energy in the evenings and am not starving by 5pm!

It's all about little steps, I cut the can of coke out but subbed in 10% of the sugar every few days to stop my body just over loading with insulin anyway and leaving me dead by 6pm. More or less trained my body back into a more sensible diet now, just need to get out and do more exercise again!
