Most successful/most sold graphics card

970 I would have thought modern day

I'd take a guess historically it would be something like:

GTX 970 -> 8800GTX -> 6600GT -> Radeon 9800 Pro maybe?

Be interesting to see what the progression is

According to Gibbo the 970 smashed all sales records inc the 8800GTX (which was the previous champ). I think we can take that as an indicator of worldwide sales :)

This.

And we know the 900 series in general has smashed all previous GPUs series in terms of sales, with the 970 the stand out card breaking all records.

am hoping gibbo will grace us with an answer! some good shouts tho.

starting to think I should have asked an era specific question as I originally meant to ask best selling high end card but looks like the answers will be interesting

Not surprised as the GTX970 isn't a top end gpu.

All very well and good to say that, but for 8 out of the last 11 months it was a top end GPU.

NVidia surprised a lot of us with the price point that the 970 came in at, and their sales figures have shown them that it was a good idea, even with the whole ramgate issue, it is still the best selling card by miles. Hopefully this will show NVidia that a good card at the right price is the way forward.

The 970 was never a top end gpu that went to the GTX980. It was also priced at around £300 or less which isn't top end gpu territory so hardly surprising it sold in mass volume.
