Blackout curtains, I need these so badly preferably before tomorrow morning, unfortunately thumb screwed on the curtain rail have been murdered up tight and I haven't got any pliers. Any ideas for improvised alternatives?

Wrap a tea-towel or cloth tight around it. It will give you grip and leverage if it's not sliding around.

You'll have to go out and get some grips/pliers. Pretty sure they are not a rare thing, and it's a useful thing to have at home.
