US TV journalists shot dead on air

If anything hopefully this tragedy will make the states really lol at their gun laws.
No use to the deceased now obviously, but maybe it can lead to some good.

I highly doubt it. Fox News' reaction tomorrow will most likely concentrate on the fact the killer was black and gay and how this is a further example good old Bible believing white Christians being persecuted.

I also suspect Fox, who famously were quick to rubbish Dylan Roof's shootings as being related to race, will jump on Bryce's 'revenge for Charleston' reasoning and accept that instantly.

Those jerks who kill others then themselves (or try in this case) really make me so mad, I hope the jerk really gets what he deserves...

Jeezus, I have just seen his POV shooting video, utterly disgusting
Rot in hell, although I would have much rather him rotting behind bars.

RIP to the tv crew :(

I get that ******** is going to show the video but tis a bit dodgy for some mainstream media organisations to show so much, bet the relatives would prefer a nice photo of the victims instead of their last moments plastered all over newspapers/TV stations

I also wonder... technically that pov footage belongs to the estate of the murderer, none of these organisations have actually got permission to even use it - technically they should all be paying a fee to the murderer's relatives for the use of the footage no?

I dont think people give two craps about the footage and the guys royalties, and I would think the family would want nothing to do with him/it.

It's also no longer evidence to be used in court, since the suspect is now dead.

What a waste of two lives

If I'd have had the chance to speak to Vester Flanaghan before he carried out this shooting, do you know what I would have said to him? Nothing, I would have listened.

This is kind of the problem. The people that carry out these attacks are generally mentally ill/unbalanced but no one seems to care too much. It is only once they do something like this that everyone takes notice...

Banning guns wont fix the problem.(Not that this is a genuine option as i just cannot see it happening in America..) If it wasn't guns it would be some other weapon they can get their hands on. I think banning guns would pretty much only achieve reducing the death counts. Guns just make killing easier/more effective. I remember hearing about a few knife rampages in China. (Where its seemingly hard to legally get hold of guns)

I think we also put too much emphasis on the killers. The stories/reporting should be all about the victims and the killers shouldn't be glamourised/given the airtime they think they deserve. At the end of the day, they just want people to notice/listen to them and if that isn't going to happen before they kill, they think the act will make sure they are noticed after.

Its all very sad and I'm not sure what it will actually take for America to address the issue properly. But more guns isn't the answer...

More the question why would you sell military grade weapons (i know this was a handgun) but still americas gun law is a mess.

Speaking to some Americans about this lately. Their response to combat the matter? The journalists should carry guns for protection.

I actually laughed.

Well it's certainly a different world for the younger nowadays, what they can be exposed too. I'm trying to think of the most gruesome thing I saw growing up and really nothing comes to mind. Movies on TV I suppose. The A-team.

well the idea is so they can overthrow the government if it starts doing things they don't want... despite living in a democracy anyway
