ebay help

As a matter of interest: Are sellers permitted to enter serial numbers and close up photos of serial plates (where applicable) in the description when posting the item for sale?

I'd have thought Ebay might have (maybe they have) considered actually having a field on the description page where the seller could enter such details, especially as so many disputes occur.

Disagree regarding mm. Once you knock selling fees off there is very little in it. Sometimes with graphics cards mm can be much more clued up about stuff. Eg I bought two 290x with full water blocks for £160 each from mm when the going rate on eBay was around £220.

I agree. MM to me is a more desirable place to buy & sell. from my own personal experience leaves me feeling a lot more comfortable with both the item being sold and the seller who is a forum member. This alone is better than ebay.

I can only claim £25 on courier insurance...

This was your biggest mistake. You possibly saved yourself £4 or so and now will find yourself, quite possibly, £300 out of pocket.

Things do get damaged in transit. It is quite possible you sent a working PS4 that got damaged by the carrier.

I never post anything I have sold, whether in the MM, EBAY, or anywhere else, without it being insured in full.

The serial number should be left private and used only if there's a dispute, I wouldn't want the serial number openly published.

If the OP asks for the serial number and they're not forthcoming, you know they're trying it on.

You should always make a note of serial numbers etc before selling something like that on Ebay, he's probably trying to offload a faulty PS4 onto you and run off with your working one.

I'd bluff and tell him that you want to check if it's the one you sent first, make clear that you took a note of serial numbers and hopefully it'll deter him. If it doesn't then you're probably stuck as you won't know either way and not paying a few quid extra for insurance was pretty silly.

Anyways,
I sent her this message
'Could you try this please
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFsQBgw5eGw
If it still does not work, could you please send it back. Send it with tracking and signature req.
Once received, I will check if all the serial numbers match and will then send the refund on same day.
Thanks.'
Reply was
'Hi, I'll try this after work today and let you know.'
Then today
'Hi I've tried this, still not working. I'm more the willing to send the item back to you but I'm sure you know this won't be cheap. Are you going to pay the postage for me to send it back? I don't think it'd be fair for me to be out of pocket'

Ask her to open an eBay return request. You can then send them a returns label via eBay...

Or you can pay for a collect plus label and send them that. Just so you know collect plus drop off points do not have scales ;).

Tell her take a picture of the receipt and tracking number with your postcode as the destination and you will refund her the postage when you receive it.

when I accepted return last time it only gave me options of sending them prepaid label or sending x amount to cover postage.

I told that she can p&p for less then around £7. She has not answered since then which was two days ago.

This is interesting as the wording is almost EXACTLY the same as a woman who bought a vaccum cleaner from my partner and tried stating it was broken.

Thankfully she only lost £30.

Prepare to get shafted OP. I'd remove all my card/bank details from paypal and just refuse to pay unless you get the item back in working condition. Don't let ebay force you to refund the buyer, if they refund the buyer then ebay can pay for that.

Then why would you not have the correct level of insurance coverage and why didn't you record the serial number?

Because people believe that the world is not full of scammers and liars, it is a much nicer place to live in. Having said that, this place has had its scammers 'I am not a shop' guy for instance is a memorable occurance.
Hope this works out okay.

Buyer is quite far away so picking it up would be hard, even harder since I do not drive yet.
@BDEE I have sent you a message via trust regarding that person
@thebennyboy What happens if I refuse? Does not sound good :(

Also, would paypal force me to refund even if she has not sent the item back?
And also, when i send a message via trust, do i get the return message on my email?

Thanks.
