The EU Migrant Crisis

I did tell them it's not a rosy as they think.

Which of course it true, but they choose not to believe you and instead believe everything they've been told (by the people who profit from them, the traffickers) about it being a perfect country where they will be given jobs, housing, benefits, etc. They are deluded, have NO RIGHT to come to England and should all be rounded up and sent back to Libya.

As much as I would love everyone to have a good life, and get on my high horse it's not going to work

Besides people are selfish, it's human nature. We want to protect ourselves. And there is no way all this immigration is good for us who are already here.

It does suck, as of course you would have the opposite view of you were in one of these poo hole countries (most of Africa and half of the middle east it seems)

But the lucky dip of life is simply that. Luck.

And you can't help but see a lot of trouble, law breaking, cultural pockets isn't good for the country if you don't want it to change. And I for one don't want the more extreme Muslim population to increase over here. They will have more and more say and influence on the culture.

With all this there are just too many draw backs to an open door policy
And even if you do have this moral high ground view and let everyone in, it will get to a breaking point and destroy all good work.
May as well be harsh now.

As brutal as it sounds it is just tough luck. And looking after number one.
But it's Natural, human nature etc.
Life is unfair.

I think a lot of people on this forum are very blinkered, idealistic and ignorant. Put yourselves in the shoes of these people. They are so desperate they're prepared to die for a better life in a better country, rather than die in their own. Yes, not all of them are saints, but the majority of people are not bad.

From a purely logistical point of view, I don't see how the UK can cope with great numbers of migrants, but this shouldn't be viewed as just an EU problem, it's a global responsibility to ensure peace and rebuilding of the countries and homes of these poor people.

Forced migration leads to the rise of right wing groups. All I can see coming from the rhetoric from the likes of Merkel is that the UK will vote to leave the EU - Whether 'call me Dave' actually accepts this, or whether they'll just make us retake the vote until 'they' get the result they like (as with Ireland) remains to be seen.

Ahhhh I see it clearly now, thanks for refuting my point...

I do love your self-righteousness though:

I went to Calais last week with a boot load of water, dried food, blankets and camping stoves. It didn't solve the problem permantly but it helped those it could.

It didn't solve the problem temporarily either...

In fact, if anything, you made it worse! Got them all thinking how great the British are because we go all the way to France to give them free stuff...
