I made another post but I think it's died.

I'm after a speedy computer for office work and the occasional game. I'd like a decent processor, a 250gig ssd, 8gig ram, hdmi output and preferably a white tower.

I'm looking to spend £350 (inc vat) not including OS, monitor or M&Kboard.

Thanks in advance.

If you can push just a small amount this would be a great machine. Gives you your 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, White case, and a very speedy true quad core i5 processor that should have plenty of grunt for years to come.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £149.99
1 x Crucial BX100 250GB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive (CT250BX100SSD1) £67.99
1 x Asus H81M-PLUS Intel H81 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £41.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01) £35.99
1 x SuperFlower FX 450W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - Black £34.99
1 x BitFenix Neos ATX Tower White/Silver £29.99
Total : £360.94 (includes shipping : Ex.VAT).

Depending on how intensive the occasional gaming is you may want to consider adding another £80 or so to the budget for something like a 750ti. You could add this in at a later date with ease though.

Slightly over budget when the VAT is added. I can stretch it a little, but not too much.

Why is this so cheap? removed, sry.

Ps, thanks for the spec

That price does include VAT?

Hi AshB1989 can you remove the eBay link please, this will be classed as a competitor.

Whilst an i5 will make a great office machine, you don't need 4 cores and it could be considered overkill. An i3 for web browsing, Office etc. will be just as effective, you will notice no difference and it will knock 50 quid off the price.

I use an i3 4330 on this office PC and it is great, that said the prices have gone up a little recently due to the exchange rate.

I'll bare that in mind, thanks, Martin.

Just opening up your options but is a black build rather than white and it will handle what you need easily.

SSHD while not as quick as an SSD does offer more storage for a lower price.
Up to date GPU.
No B Grade components on the off chance that something isn't right as its your first time building

You can of course get a different GPU and save yourself some cash to put into something else
(Been a few months since I did this so I'm sure someone will point out an obvious error ;) )

Thanks for the spec, budd. Not overly bothered about a GPU at the moment. Want to get a sturdy computer built first then add that GPU at a later date if required.

Thanks again, Bickaxe.

If I were to buy the first spec (i5, 8gig, 250ssd) will that include everything I need? I don't need to buy any other cables or anything?

Assuming I've got a monitor, K&M, a USB OS I'm good to go?

Just noted that the case there comes with a single exhaust fan, but no intake. Personally I'd spend another £5 and get a 120mm fan to push some air inside, especially if you're using the intel stock cooler on the CPU. You can remove the bottom 3.5" hdd bracket, which you won't need, and put the fan in the bottom slot, so as not to block airflow. A standard Bitfenix jobbie like this one should do:
