Best Nvidia 980Ti

I just went with the 980ti Classified. Seemed like a good option and the pricing from OCUK was good. I've been running a 780 classified for the past 18 months or so and been pretty happy with it so thought I'd stick with EVGA

I have the Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Edition (non extreme) and it boosts to just over 1300MHz out the box. I managed to grab it while it was on offer for £499 at OcUK . Good temps, fairly quiet and faster than stock and the 5 year warranty is a nice bonus too ;).

any issues with the random spike of fans spinning when not doing much

i myself have ordered the gigabyte 980ti G1

No. I think that's just a problem on the Zotac AMP card. Enjoy your card, it's a good make.

I've not had a fan spiking issue with mine. The fans are off until the card reaches around 60C and then they'll start spinning up. The highest recorded temp for my card so far is 73C and the fans become audible, but not what I'd call loud.

I'm glad. It didn't affect every card.

Very pleased with my Amp Extreme. Boosts to 1455 out of the box, runs 10 degrees cooler than the G1 I had before, and is quieter under load. Not tried overclocking it as the performance is excellent anyway. The ASIC quality is 81.4%

Only issues are some coil whine (which isn't audible most of the time and is far less than my previous G1) and the issue where the fan speeds can spike when the card is under load. Hoping a future bios update will fix that, but I game with headphones so I can't really hear them spike anyway.

Big card though - only just fits lengthwise in my case. Thought it wasn't going to fit when I tried to install it.

I was worried about the size must admit, when I held it(you can feel the quality) I opened my case as quick as lightening to see if it would fit!

Can you not RMA if you get coil whine? The fan will spike for about 3 seconds if the GPU is above a certain temp, around 70c I think, and it cools it right down.

I'm reluctant to RMA as I've already RMA'd a G1. The G1 had loud coil whine which was noticeable even at relatively low frame-rates - ARK for example doesn't run very fast on max detail, but there was very loud coil whine on the G1, which I don't hear at all on the AMP Extreme.

Besides the card in all other respects is an awesome performer - 81.4% ASIC quality hopefully means it'll be a good overclocker too.

well im hoping the Gigabyte 980ti g1 i get , doesn't coil wine, im not to worried about the fans, as they stop in idle or low tasks, and not mind noise when gaming , guess will find out

Hi there

My favourite is AMP Extreme, I simply set it at +25 voltage, fan 70% and this keeps temps sub 68c and its boosting to around 1450MHz by itself and operates in near silence. Only catch is the size of it and 5yr warranty is a bonus.

I have read that it can go away after a while, not sure if someone can confirm this? I wouldn't be reluctant to send it back.

EDIT: I've read about some peeps getting v good overclocks, but I tend to just stick to stock, it's fast enough for me :)

Msi gaming edition is nice, extremely quiet and clocks pretty nicely. Mine isn't the best ill admit, max clock of 1489mhz on stock volts. Regarding the lightning, any reviews I've read so far make it seem a bit underwhelming. Gorgeous looking card though, if I hadn't already got the gaming edition id be all over the lightning as it would look great in the X99 mpower board I've bought.
