Show Us Your Motors!

I did say it with my tongue firmly in my cheek. I stuck the nose into a tight corner in the suburbs at about 2AM and let the back slide round, and then I got pulled up and "advised" not to drive like that. :p

I probably got away with it because of my profuse apology and the fact that it was at low speed and under control. And wonderful.

so reading between the lines the story has now changed to, I drove like a div and got pulled over by the cops.

Sounds more like it.

I've not been pulled over yet but have had police follow me down country lanes on a number of occasions :p

I used to get pulled over all the time in my highly modified Yaris T-Sport and in my CTR. Every single time I got breathalysed too.

It's fine though, one of my mates lived in a pretty dodgy area so I'd be suspicious too.

Went for a drive at lunch time today. :)

We did a 1,200 mile tour of Scotland this week, saw some amazing views and scenery! Absolutely loved the country, I've not been since I was 13 and at that age I wasn't really paying attention to it's magnificence.

Stunning. How did you find the petrol situation up there? Have been tempted by a bit of a road trip but heard some horror stories about how you'll need a few jerry cans in the boot if you go too far north, and with a car that only takes 99RON fuel whilst doing low teens MPG, think I could be pushing my luck a bit...

Thanks Vox!

I was fortunate, I filled up at Glasgow in the morning before heading up, and then never had to fill up again until Edinburgh. This was my entire route;

I averaged 34mpg the whole trip for what that's worth, and noticed only one other filling station, which definitely wouldn't have had 99RON fuel, there were two pumps with no roof! :D

Having said that this was the first time doing this trip and I assume there must be places to fill up with decent fuel, but where I'm not sure.

We're planning a trip next year to do the 500 mile North Coast route (http://www.northcoast500.com/home.aspx), but I'm fortunate that it doesn't matter all that much which petrol I throw in mine. It would be a shame for you not to see these views (and a bigger one not to experience it with the M3), but it would need some decent planning.

Good route that! I highly rate the A82 up the side of Loch lomond and the A85 towards Oban. You can head north to Fort William via Creaghan bridge or double back to Tyndrum to drive the a82 to glencoe which is also stunning

Drove to fortinghall via killin the other night and I do enjoy the stint from Stirling to Killin has quite a few big straights were 80mph is acceptable.

410 miles? No way I'm managing that without filling up :p

Route looks good, and certainly doable if I load up some jerry cans, shall have to plan something for next spring :) Any other photos of your trip (motoring related or otherwise)?

You didn't do the lap around Loch Ness? Wut!?

Only had 5 days (of which two of those were half days) in Scotland and had a bucket list of things to see and do, therefore Loch Ness didn't make the cut.

However I'm already planning on another trip up north next year, so I'll no doubt get to check it out then. I saw Loch Lomond, which was fascinating in itself.

How remote do you guys think Scotland is!? You'll have no problem getting 99 unless you go north of / well outside of Inverness once you're up that way (certainly not more than a tanks distance)

You really need to pick your time to travel up the west coast, the roads are great but hit them on caravan or bank holiday season and you'll have no chance to pass anything - killing the enjoyment
