If you believe the majority of people are fleeing war and famine then you must explain first why the majority are not going to their nearest refugee camp.
Actually, there is an answer to this, one which is from an obvious question that I and no one else has seemed to ask. I heard the answer last night which gave rise to the question....
The Syrian war has been going on now for 4-5 years, why now all of a sudden have we got this mass influx of Syrian refugees?
It's because, and in answer to your question above, they are coming from the refugee camps - because unfortunately as usual, international pledges of money to support these camps is not materialising, the funds are drying up (in our defence Britain alone has met our obligations and now given more) so the camps themselves are running out of food, supplies and shelter. Hence now all of a sudden we are seeing these sorts of numbers entering Europe.
And the other stupid question usually asked at this point (I think I deleted yours?) Is why don't they stop at the first safe haven, like international law says....yea, right, like a fleeing refugee is going to be that bothered about what the finer points of international law says, would you? They know Hungary doesn't want them, they know their applications will either not be processed or take months, but you have countries like Germany, Sweden actively saying come to us, so of course they are going to make their way there. I would in their position.
It is superior.
Try telling the migrants that life in Britain or Germany is not superior to life in Syria, and see how far you get.
Err, in fact the father to those two drowned boys gave a speech at their burial yesterday saying exactly the opposite. Just as we have ties and connections to our countries of birth due to culture, heritage, history etc so do they. It's their country, of course they would rather be living at 'home' rather than somewhere they have no ties with, as a refugee.
