I cannot fathom how you are comparing the right to live in a first world country with owning a porche.

It..... just.............! *shrug*

They didn't start with nothing as you say, is it just me or does every single one of them have a smartphone!?

Some of them may well have lost everything in the war, but a lot of these people just don't like where they live. How do we tell the difference? Well we can't.

well, wheres the difference?

i have a car that will go from a to b. i'm quite happy with it. I got it after my last one was a risk to my life.

however i want a Porsche. you know, they are much better.

but i don't go and take one.

With familes at home who will join them when they find somewhere worth living.............................................

Which means the numbers arriving in Hungary, etc, are just the tip of the iceberg, and when the dust settles we can probably expect to multiply them by 4...

they have somewhere safe to sleep free of risk of murder by tyrannical religious groups. to have free food. and will be re-homed following due process where availability arises.

Except that now food is becoming scarce, conditions are becoming unsanitary and the asylum process is breaking down - with many not being processed at all. Safety isn't even assured anymore.

Life is not at all rosy at these "inital" refugee camps.

they want a life in a first world country.

The horror!

and?

Perfect oppurtunity to turn impressionable young children away from Islam imho and show them there is a better way, then when they return to Syria etc they can take this enlightened thinking with them.

Well, anyone living in the real world should probably be concerned purely by looking at this from as a numbers exercise.

The trouble is, you lot can't see beyond the humanitarian issues. You really want to help everybody, and although I can't say anything bad about that, it's just not realistic.

Germany is now talking about raising taxes purely to cope with the immigrants they've said they want to take.

In this country we are going to have to also be prepared to be financially worse off, face increasing shortages of school and hospital places, and other issues if we want to take significant numbers in, as the EU wants us to.

And like has been said, they won't stop coming. In all likelihood we will encourage more and more people to come. And then why stop at Syria? The media could turn their attention to other war-ravaged lands, and why shouldn't we take their poor and displaced as well?

Listen, if we're going to rebalance the world - not to have 1st world countries or 3rd world countries - then we need to accept that we will all become 2nd world countries. But I would much prefer that we face a flow of our wealth out of this country than face a flow of people into this country.

If the goal is a rebalancing of global wealth, then let's just give up what we have and send it abroad, not cram everybody into Europe.

That's what you want, isn't it? A global reallocation of wealth and prosperity?

That tax could be spent on things like cancelled cancer drugs. No compassion for them?

Straw man. One does not preclude the other.

Bang on - a one world, secularist, social Technoratic government.

You know, like Star Trek.

I think labelling it a greed is harsh.

I concur - making those initial safe havens "safe" should be the no.1 priority - we need to really help Turkey, Greece and Italy with that - and not just monetarily either.

Classic Groen - sounding a bit conspiracy theorist there, aren't we?

What exactly do you mean my "other agenda"?

And as for "move back to your region of origin", London holds no attraction to me - I don't particulary like cities, which is why I moved somewhere quieter.

I'm not sure what that even means. But I suppose that was kind or your point wasn't it? I'll let you educate me on that one.

I don't think labelling them as economic migrants is harsh. What i think is harsh is accepting economic migrants and pretending they are all refugees.

We don't actually have to help anyone, your compassion is not a national imperative. If we do decide to help someone then they can take it out of the existing foreign aid budget.

What do you think i mean by other agenda? You are going on and on about letting the migrants in to the country, why are you so enthusiastic for it?

I did say OR move on to new pastures. Meaning if you are not from another location and from the UK then when it turns in to a cesspool you would just move on to another country because you hold no loyalty towards the country.

You also conveniently ignored the rest of my comment, typical amgiafan.

Why don't you appreciate the practical implications of letting immigrants in? Do you think that the practical impact is over exaggerated? do you think that it is irrelevant and that we could let in 1 million people next week tuesday and by saturday they will all be sorted out with no problems?
