It can drop in 34 or 35. I believe you're guaranteed one the first time you complete 35 after that it is RNG. Though I believe the probability is high in 35 and low in 34.

Not necessarily, I got my elder cipher from the poe 34 a few weeks back...probably because I killed the end boss with a gally ie my gally killed him off.

That's good news that the elder cipher will auto complete, I've got about 400 odd points from last week's poe 32 but since then haven't had a chance to complete it.

Yeh Initially I only bought the base game second hand (cheap) so I thought I'd just grab everything with this release.

Any idea when we get the heroic gear the collectors edition comes with?

I finally got around to beating PoE 35 today. Found Skolas to be really quite easy with 3 Bubblebros, but we had real trouble getting past the Cabal round with arc burn (those ******* Psions can do one). Got my Elder Cypher just in time for Tuesday as well. That's my Moments of Triumph all done as well now too.

Is it worth storing treasure keys to use on PoE 34/35? Do you get better rewards for those ones? I've already had my quota of two exotics this week on 28. Or are the treasure chests purely a bonus and you're supposed to just do 32/34/35 for the cores and etheric light?

Chests are only going to drop year 1 weapons (which will be lower attack rating and won't get you a high enough light rating) or etheric light (which is obsolete and doesn't work on any year 2 gear)

Seriously, there is no point chasing any of the prison of elders loot once TTK comes out. You'll be playing it for fun only.

Make sure its the "legendary edition". This includes

"Destiny"
"Destiny DLC 1 - The Dark Below"
"Destiny DLC 2 - The House of Wolves"
"Destiny 2.0 Expansion - The Taken King"

The Taken King is adding so much content you don't want to miss out. If you're not sure if you like it theres a trial version available on the PSN / XB store for you to try.
 
Do we start getting the new weapons/armour on Tuesday 8th or 15th? My storage is chock-a-block full of stuff which I understand you can use to upgrade the new gear?

You can't use old gear to upgrade new gear. You can only upgrade gear using stuff of higher quality, so that's year 2 stuff only. Keeping year 1 stuff for that purpose is a waste of space tbh.
 
I've been thinking about the changes a bit and it seems like the grind is much worse. Before you got too Lv20 and got gear for Light 34 which was based on 4 armour pieces.

Now you get too Lv40 and then you have 6 armour slots and your weapons (Not sure how weapons work, is it all 3 combined or just your primary??) and then you can reach the light Cap. Watching the public event stuff from the guys at planet destiny the gear has a very large scale in light level so it could be a solid grind too reach the cap. I also think I've seen some bit of gears with light 300 over the past streams.
 
I think the grind is much less now. Getting max level is now much easier as its XP based, which opens up all the end game activities. It seems that there are going to be plenty of ways to get better gear fairly quickly, so getting more powerful should come fairly naturally as you play.

I only think it would be a grind if you were desperate to hit max light levels as fast as possible. I think for most people it'll be a lot less grindy.
 
I think I saw 1 screenshot of a Light 310 item, and vendor stuff is 280. I guess it depends on the raid. With HoW there was basically no grind, it took me almost no time to hit Lv34 and I started it at 29, 1 exotic, 1 item from PoE from the Lv32, 1 item from 5 wins in ToO and then 1 etheric light was all it took.

I wasn't around for the Forever 29 so I don't understand how difficult that was, and I started mid way through dark below and spent it mostly in crucible so didn't care greatly about my light level. However HoW has been very easy.
 
Started playing Destiny again, the new update interests me. Whats the cheapest way to get all DLC and TTK as i havent bought any at all but have the original.
 
I'm confused now. I know light level is gone as an indication of your character level but how is light level used individually on weapons and armour? What effect does it have?
