The EU Migrant Crisis

Councillor Simmonds, from the LGA's asylum, refugee and migrant task force, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "The big challenge is that there's been a lot of well-publicised pressure on our public services, school places, hospital access, housing - in many parts of the country.
"We need to make sure that if people are going to be moved to the UK, that we've a clear idea of what the cost is going to be, to provide the public services that they expect when they come here."

Mr Simmonds said councils in England were already supporting 2,000 unaccompanied refugee children at a cost of £50,000 each year per child.

£50,000 each year per refugee child , how many british children get that sort of money spent on them or even how many british born workers earns that in an year ??

£50K per year per kid? Are they housed in Park Lane hotels?

We don't live in the UK to exist on nutrition alone?

I am well fed but it now takes weeks to get a doctors appointment and months for a dental appointment. Another 1.5mil and I will be dead before I get to see a doctor.

Your mad as they come.

I turned up at a doctors appointment 20 minutes early to find out the queue was out the door and the receptionist was struggling to deal with most of those in the queue as none could speak a word of English.

Took me 40 minutes to sign in at which point I was told I'd have to re book. I got the impression that because I was English I was the easiest to fob off.

In the end I told them not to bother.

Where do you live out of interest?

Doncaster. Most northern towns are getting like this. My only saving grace is I literally live 500 yards away from an ambulance station so I can at least get seen to in an emergency pretty sharpish.

That is unless their hasn't been another Polish v Romanian riot and mass stabbing, I might struggle then.

Dudes hate each other, it's all positive though, there's potatoes need picking.

I wouldn't have pegged Doncaster as being like that. Well, I've learnt something today.

I was in Sheffield late last year, pretty sure the amount of natives I saw were in the minority down there - they loved hanging around outside Tesco. :o

Housing is still relatively cheap so they get "encouraged" away from the leafy southern suburbs up to the struggling ex mining towns.

This last lot of eastern Europeans that got let in are off the chain they literally hate everybody. They behave like dirty animals n all, never seen anything like it.

I hope we vote out of the EU specifically for this reason, the suffering they are causing to people who live near them is not on.

Those of you who feel like there is no difference and can't see the effects should realise that massive changes happen in towns in literally only a few years and they simply aren't the same anymore.

Maybe that's why they seem to have improved Blackpool!

Difficult to describe Blackpool as "improved!"

This is my point. They will get sent north as not to affect the richer folk in the south east ;)

All the people in favour should have them flood their lovely towns and estates and report back in a year or so.

I was in Blackpool recently and thought it seemed a lot nicer, cleaner place than the last time I went years ago. Town and front was anyway.

Actually - they've done a really nice job on the front (as long as you don't own a car) - pretty good to cycle down - can go all the way from Starr Gate to Fleetwood without ever going on a road - 12 miles.

Just need to demolish the rest of it.
