Consistently I see/hear motorbikes hooning it down the road outside my house, it's a 30 and I'm wondering is there anything that I can do? My gut says no, I've lived here a year and I guess it's just something that happens.

A friend lives in a village not far from me and she says motorbikes regularly come speeding through the village at all times. I've found it's mostly on the weekend and in the morning when the weather is nice. It's very loud, and not what you wan to hear at 8.30am when they open up their bike in a residential area.

Last week I was out the front talking to a friend when one guy did a wheelie and sped off down he road at double the speed limit.

Anyway, sorry I'm ranting but it annoys me that it happens so frequently.

Just a typical anti social biker, in much the same mould as your typical anti social driver, except the bikers are brave enough to come out in the light, the drivers tend to hide in industrial estates and car parks during the night :p

It's generally a road the public like to speed on, they come off a roundabout on to a nice open straight road(https://goo.gl/maps/IxyWx). Last week I noticed a happy/sad face speed indicator that I presume the council had put up. It was there for the week and was 50% the time red sad face. Any idea why these get put up for a week?

Possible that they record various speeds and that gives an idea of potential profit generation for installing a camera.

Bikers always speed in 30s and it ****es me off. They seem to think the law doesn't apply to them :(

It virtually doesn't anyway, no front plates so truvelos and most vans / mobile cams aren't a concern and only the most unobservant will blat past a gatso without realising.

Vans have a forward facing camera to get your rear plate.

It is a bit of a generalisation that all bikers speed, IMO 30s/40s are there for a reason and I rigidly stick to them, especially around town where there could be children etc about. You'll find most do too.

I live in a 40, pretty sure some of them come down here at well over 70, great fun when trying to pull out of the driveway.

Sweeping generalisation. The group I used to ride with always adhered to limits (with the exception of NSL). Don't tar everyone with the same brush.

Also, I think you'll find that actually most vehicles tend to speed in 30 limits. I'm sure even you have.

Lol poor thing. Truly a heroic stand for humanity against this scourge, other people having fun and you can HEAR THEM?!? Whatever next.

If you find loud noises fun you're 1 step off being a child or a Neanderthal - if that is your thing there's a place for it and it isn't a residential street.

Notice you glossed over the more important issue of the safety though...

How are they harming anyone? Such a nanny state we live in and nimbys like op are the reason.

You wouldn't say that if it was your road. We get noisy bikes and cars going far too fast as well. It's a residential street on a main bus route and there are several schools nearby.
