Which mounts do people use for the Garmin? Thinking of mounting underneath handlebars.

I use the SRAM outfront mount:

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sram-quickview-garmin-computer-mount/

You can pick it up cheaper elsewhere though and I believe the various no-brand knock offs you can buy are all pretty reasonable too.

edit: Oops, the above is for the Garmin Edge. Roady and Grudas will be able to advise you for the Virb I imagine.

Forgot to say, car drivers in Corsica were remarkably considerate. They beep their horns at you when they are behind you. At first we thought it was them getting angry but in fact it was to let you know they were there. We then waved them through when it was safe and nearly all of them thanked us by beeping or waving as they passed. I've never seen anything like that in Britain.

It's the weather, it makes everyone happier! :p

looks interesting, wonder if it could keep garmin virb juiced up on a long ride!

Does look interesting, yet judging by how long the VIRB takes to charge from USB it probably drains faster from use than any charge could provide... Although with something like that you'd get most of a day out of it rather than the 3-4 hours...! Shame it's so big and ugly...

Apparently 1000CD is 1000 Lumens(?)

1000 lumen sounds a bit much! I'll be happy if it is even half that! :D

Looks great, legwarmers, VIRB, gels and arm warmers or are they socks?

For my mounts I use the Superstar combo (mount VIRB and EDGE). I really rate Superstar for quality, delivery and service... They even sent me a screw (for free) after I'd messaged them about fitting the VIRB to the GoPro mount as I hadn't got one which fitted (and they don't supply one as its a GoPro screw).

FYI, the Lezyne Macro Duo is 400 lumens on the front.

Yeah 400 lumen on full power but it won't last a week running full power (only around 4 hours when I tried it). I guess it'd be fine for leisure riding like I want, but I quite like the helmet mounted light to be for visibility as it's easy to shine it at cars to make sure they see me... Don't want to blind them! ;)

Similar in Mallorca. Only saw one idiot and it was probably a Brit in the rental car overtaking on a blind bend!

No worries. Thanks!

one of these :) fits my 800 + virb, you will need an extra screw to get it to work tho, can't remember what size it was but Roady bought one and I'm sure he knows!

Thanks guys - that should work and future proof me. I don't actually have a Garmin GPS at the moment... just a Sigma ROX 10 which is okay though I'm considering a garmin with proper mounting functionality. On the other hand the Garmin Edge 500 is coming up at ALDI soon for £80 which is quite tempting!

They're arm warmers. SportPursuit did a 20% off site-wide over bank holiday. Virb was £72 total :)

I'm on top of bleara moor, at the top of one of the climbs in today's tob stage. Anyone watching the coverage, look out for someone in a PwC/chain reaction cycles jersey.

I saw a nasty crash at sabden. Someone from lotto jumbo went down on the bend at the bottom of the nick o Penske and retired with what looked like a broken collarbone. I'll need to watch the highlights tonight to see exactly what happened.

Oh yeah, and the weather is chuffing gorgeous.

You can just charge it each day - it's not like plugging it into USB is that hard.

Any high lumen light is unlikely to last for ages unless you get a really hefty battery with it.

Has anyone seen this?

I usually use bits of foam stuff that came with my MTB, but these look quite good, maybe?

Looks like an expensive way to buy rubber foam/bubblewrap and electrical tape/zipties... ;)

You may be able to find an adapter to fit the Sigma into a Garmin mount... Or even a way to fit the bar mount onto the top of the garmin mount - zip ties are your friend! ;)

Great price for the VIRB, I got mine for £76 back in December using a combination of Black Friday, discount codes and a new account setup on IWOOT. You'll need to hunt down microSD's now (I use OcUK Teamgroup 32GB Class 10's)! :)

What I'm hoping is a high lumen light at half power mode giving me more life than a lower lumen light on full power...! With the larger light I'll also be able to run full power (when needed) and still get a weeks riding out of a charge! :D

Get some panniers and a car battery. Problem solved.

I know I need some strength training so this might be a viable option.

Yeah. I kinda wonder if it's the same fitting anyway.. it's a simple quarter turn thing, unless it's a different size! MicroSD already sorted assuming I can find the one I used to use in a dashcam :)

What is an OcUK Teamgroup card?
Edit: Ah I see them. Never heard of that brand before.

Check out the chinese bike lights on Geek, or dx or ebay.
Cheaper, and bright for the money.

I have been using my dual cree cheapy for night rides in the woods. I have actually just ordered another, thinking about helmet mounting that one, or just using the battery pack as a spare for longer rides :)

Both together were cheaper, and I could order a third, and still be cheaper than that Evan's jobby.

People often say that as if all Chinese lights are created equal. They're not :p Some have terrible build quality and will fall apart in weeks, some won't hold a charge for more than 30 minutes, some won't be any brighter than lights you can find at poundland. If you've found some that are reliable and that you want to recommend then by all means, recommend them.
