Travel Insurance – Will I be committing fraud?

I thought that would be the case but what's the harm in asking.

Unfortunately with this forum you get a lot of idiots who can’t resist making comments like ‘You actually had to ask' and 'surprised you had to ask'. Those comments don’t help me at all so go away and do something useful with your life.

I can't see how the insurance company couldn't pay out. Just lie. You're not doing anything wrong. Just deny all knowledge and you will be sweet.

Wow, yes, that's fraud.

You may find that the companies you have booked with may be flexible (although they may have had loads of consumers take advantage of them before by doing things like committing fraud, so may not feel they need to help you out )

Knowing the response you lot give I’m probably going to get shot down for even suggesting this but I am unsure and have a lot of money to
lose.

Friday I injured by wrist playing football and went to A&E where they x-rayed it and put it in a splint. They can’t tell how much damage has been caused until I have a scan a week today. If it’s bad news my wrist could be out of action for 6-8 weeks.

In three weeks’ time I’m due to go to the Nurburgring for a driving holiday and in five weeks a golfing holiday in Portugal. Both events I won’t be able to do if the news is bad and are paid for. Unfortunately I don’t have travel insurance; it’s something I usually get just before I go.....

Will I be committing insurance fraud if I take out travel insurance now? I don’t know the extent of my injury until next Monday and as far as I know my wrist will be ok. On the other hand the damage that could stop me going has already been done.

Should have just ignored it, gone on holiday, and then fell over and claimed it happened then.

I think you've missed the point - he likely doesn't want to go on holiday if he has in fact broken it since he won't be playing golf or driving. The point of his potential fraud is to get a payout for cancelling the holiday.

Are you suggesting that the injury that is causing the OP to consider fraud was created by cheating?

Just declare it as a pre existing condition and your covered, it doesn't put up your policy that much

I imagine he's hoping to use the insurance to cover the cost of cancelling the holiday, not travelling with the injury.

check you bank account sometimes you get travel insurance free and dont even know i have it with a nationwide account and a barclays account i new about the barclays one but i got a letter today from nationwide with my certificate in it

This, if you pay for your account 9 times out of 10 you will have free euro travel insurance
