People often say that as if all Chinese lights are created equal. They're notSome have terrible build quality and will fall apart in weeks, some won't hold a charge for more than 30 minutes, some won't be any brighter than lights you can find at poundland. If you've found some that are reliable and that you want to recommend then by all means, recommend them.
Quite, as with any product, check the reviews, and do the research. But as someone who has had a number of both brand name and Chinese torches, I now almost exclusively use Chinese units. The only exception is a 6cell D mag (LED converted) that I keep in the car, as it runs on big D-cells and can happily sit behind my seat for 2 years and not discharge!
The Mrs' car has a Sky-Ray King, and I have a newer model of the same design as my go to unit in the car. I also have some single 18650 chinese lights, which are superior to the Lenser products I have had.
The only lenser product I still have in regular use is a small AAA cell unit that I gave to my son for playing with!
So in my experience, Chinese cannot be beaten for pure value for money!
