the problem with Syria is it's controlled by so many factions now, who do you pick to help? i'd say go with Assad as removing ruthless dictators hasn't seemed to of ended well so far.......

Germany enjoy............

Weird. They are allegedly fleeing war and don't want to fight...

Then they come to Greece, and the Afghani migrants start fighting with the Syrian migrants? Over what? They didn't say. But they fight each other every day?

Is there historical enmity between Afghans and Syrians?

If Muslims got 50% of the population in the UK. Can anyone say that there wouldn't be changes to law? You can't.

Multiculturalism of different religions only works when it's a minority. As soon as them numbers even up there will be trouble ahead.

I lived in Newham for a number of years. It was, at the time, the only borough in the UK where the white British population was below 50%.

Have extremists being voted into power? No. Have the council tried to implement policies based on hardline religious views? No.

First post here and I haven't read all 2500 posts in this topic. So please excuse me if I repeat something already said.

I'd say if you haven't got a pretty good of idea both of your strategic objectives and how how achieve them, don't pick anyone to help. Or at least, help people, but not brutal warring factions. Backing one brutal regime because another is even more brutal is a dangerous and slippery slope.

Ideally, remove Assad and ISIS. but what do you put in their place? And how do you do it? Iraq and Afghanistan are object lessons in how tricky that is.

Jordan have taken 1.5 mill refugees.

Israel - They have stuff in common culture wise with syria? A state set up with the sole purpose of resettling JEWISH people. Really?

The remainder are **** holes, I wouldn't want to go there either.

Use your brain before you post old chap.

I realized Israel was different thats why i said mostly. But in all seriousness why have these countries not stepped up? Perhaps other countries have already tried to put pressure on surrounding countries to help out and failed?

Another reason why it may be a good idea is what happens to the migrants once the war in Syria is over and it is on the road to stability. Do we expel the migrants? Do they stay or what? Or is it something that is not brought up?

As you can see here folks this is a little something known as cultural enrichment.

We should welcome and encourage it.

More enrichment.

Hmm. Could we not just take the women and children?

The men look like proficient fighters - we could send them back with a large supply of plastic chairs to fight ISIS with?

Once they're in Europe they ain't moving. There was comments before about when they cease to be a refugee and that they never cease to be until they return home. A more accurate definition would be they will be refugees when it suits them. Not one of them will have any intention of returning home regardless of what happens in Syria.

Why do we want Assad out again? He seems very clued up.

What did Assad do and how is he worse than whoever would take over him?

If we want to resolve this situation, we have no choice but to side with someone. Frankly, Assad is the best of a bad bunch, and is immeasurably preferable to ISIS.

Assad is a bit of an unknown, depending on what press you read, in one he persecutes his civilians and in others he is well supported but has russian ties but hasnt commited any crimes.

**** knows if I know what to make of him.

Given that our reasons for ousting other dictators in the region were /highly/ suspect, I tend to believe the articles (from people who have visited Syria) that he is actually popular with his people.

The FSA et al, are mostly foreign fighters looking to overthrow the secular Syrian govt and replace it with an islamic one.

If this was facebook most of you guys would get called racist pigs and nazis and even get threats to your personal safety for not being liberal enough..

I'm surprised to see this thread still open after so many people apposing refugees.
