Recently got back in to Destiny, am on level 28 Warlock. Have also ordered the upcoming pack.
How do I get one of those magically annoying 2 shot kill hand guns (Last word, Thorn etc) for crucible use? I've played many crucible games and it seems everyone around me gets exotic hand guns but me, is there anything I can do to improve my chances of getting one?

Ermm raids and nightfall strikes, that's how I got my last word hand cannon. Thorn you get from the bounty guy in the tower after handing in your daily bounties etc. Then you have to do a few missions and the final bit is getting void kills in crucible ie using any weapon that has void damage.
Mind u if you have the thorn bounty then it auto completes once the new dlc drops.

It's not quite as easy to get the Thorn bounty as this makes out. When handing in bounties there is a chance you'll get offered an exotic bounty. Out of the choices you get, you need to hope one is the Thorn bounty (I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head). You need to complete the bounty to get Thorn. The void Crucible kills is actually the 2nd to last bit, but it's considered the hardest part as you have to rack up a load of points by killing enemies with void damage, but you lose points every time you die. I know a lot of people who've given up on it. The last bit is actually to complete a special strike on the moon to kill a certain enemy (Xyor the Unwed).
As mentioned, Nightfalls and raids are your go to chances for an exotic item, though it's all RNG so it's all down to luck. Your absolute best bet is to hope that Xur sells one of the weapons you're after on Friday.

I got one when I did my 35 PoE this week, the Armamentarium. I've already got it, but I've got nearly every exotic by now so that's no surprise. That's one reason why I'm looking forward to TTK, more exotics to collect!
Thorn is; "A light in the Dark"
It drops as an option alongside "Toland's Legacy" (Bad Juju) and "A Dubious Task" (Invective).
The crucible part of Thorn can be a pain. I have done it twice now (once for me and once for the Mrs) and both times I was lucky enough to have void primaries. My biggest problem was ensuring I got the kills with the void weapons.
I actually found a good void fusion rifle to be pretty good for the bounty.
Meh, no Destiny tonight then.

Yeah, I did my bounty back when fusion rifles rocked in Crucible, so even though I had Atheon's Epilogue I think I got the majority of my kills with a void fusion. It helped doing it with my Voidwalker though as the super, grenades and melee all counted as void attacks too.

I don't think that consumable will be coming until next Tuesday I think. Before that, just playing the content will get you levelling up quickly enough. When you reach level 4 (I think) you'll start to unlock bounties in the tower. Make sure you pick all of them up and do them, you'll gain a lot of XP for each one which will really help you level up. If you have friends who play you could always ask them to power level you by doing the missions with you on the hardest difficulty. You may struggle with it but if they're a high level they'll just waste everything really quickly.
I've done the grind from 1-20 6 times now and with good play you can be at level 20 in about 6 hours or so I reckon, just by doing all the missions and bounties as they become available.

I am looking forward to this patch, if the weapon balancing works as it is claimed then it is going to be an interesting week in PvP as we all find our feet what guns to use. HC's are getting a nerf but Thorn still sounds pretty potent so going to stick with it initially. Hopefully auto rifles are actually worth something as I miss using my Suros Regime but if that fails than I have messenger, spare change and red death ready and waiting

Yup :/ I initially had 3 Warlocks, but eventually deleted them to make room for a Hunter and Titan. I also created and ran through a new character for a friend when I was looking after his account, as he only had one character and was complaining he didn't have time to do another. This was while I was unemployed and bored though, I wouldn't do it again now though!

Looks like despite Bungie saying there is no Nightfall this week, one is currently available (Phogoth with Solar and Void burn). This will likely disappear as soon as 2.0 hits, so if you can get on earlier, you'll get one last chance to wreck everything to Gjallarhorn before its nerf. If you need it, Petra also has the Skoriks bounty as well. I'll be grabbing that just so I can get the Grimoire as I've never killed him before.
