These new Segway Boards.

Why does anything vary in price dramatically... there are obviously different levels of quality especially in terms of battery and range, with some being cheapie china and some being better. Your best bet is simply to Google reviews on them.

Why is it obvious, and do you realise most stuff is made in China regardless?

Their right wing like freedom our right wing like being bossy and in control.

Freedom to cause chaos and injury to other pedestrians is not really a freedom for the people you injure... so banning them from public places is as valid as banning push-bikes from pavements.

In your own back yard do whatever you want.

They don't bother me in the slightest, they're certainly gaining popularity here in London, I see them more and more frequently. If someone bumps in to me I doubt it'll hurt much. Plus anyone over the age of 16 on them looks a bit of a plank.

One small difference can make a big difference in final price.

A normal one might cost £75 to make and hence £300 retail. Another maker uses slightly better motors or batteries and costs £100, its now £400 to us.

Don't talk wet it's not people who use segways are going out an being antisocial and causing massive problems to people, its absolutely minor I can think of so many worse things out there which are legal. It's pathetic that they are illegal.

Think about it, who gives them the right to tell YOU you are not allowed to ride this stick and stand with two wheels on it up the street, WTF! controlling ********

This is the reason this country is ****** because people just take it and don't stand up against ridiculous things such as this.. you stand by and yeah ok! I'll go along with what you tell me..

This may be controversial and irrelevant to this situation but one name. Enoch Powell.

Take that with a pinch of salt because I'm quite drunk right now :D

A difference is price is not an obvious indicator of a difference in quality or value though.

Nah it gets you where you're going and can be put in a bag when you get there unlike a bike which needs chaining somewhere secure and no bike lock can withstand more than 30 seconds of an attempt to steal it because all locks can be bypassed.

These things weigh a tonne, not something I'd want to be carrying around!

Not sure if anyone's posted this as I can't see the YouTube links, but the ones popular out here are just a single wheel with two footrests? either side:

I can't understand how you initially step on to it or step off it, as you would be stepping on one side so would immediately lose balance? And yes, they are a lot cheaper out here, and sold absolutely everywhere, but I've only seen a few being used.

Am I missing something here, these are just not practical.

A few weeks ago on holiday I saw people going around the lake on these (totally flat tarmac path). But as soon as we got to the town centre there were loads of people picking them up and carrying them as they could obviously not get up the curbs and cross roads.

Unless you have a direct path to work on a totally flat path this would just not be practical. Get a bike!
