new company car time

I'm really swinging towards the mondeo. The hybrid specifically.

Only problem is no dealer has one to test drive...so I've no idea how it will be.

The size of the car is perfect, it's the only saloon I've sat in were I can fill extend my legs!

It's a shame their only other automatics are ridiculous on emissions. I really don't want to go back to a manual. But it makes me think am I going to pay much more for the luxury?

If you were not rushed for time, it would have been cool to wait and see the new A4 in the flesh.

But my choice would be the 3 Series the Jag XE is not bad just a tad small at the back.

think the jag is over budget!

Also the A4 will push it i think.

what about the A3? Audi A3 Saloon 1.6 TDI Sport 110PS S Tronic, or the s-line?

Mazda 6 saloon or tourer.

I've had a 6 tourer since last November, so almost a year. It's the new 2.0 NA petrol with 145ps. I definitely wouldn't recommend one for long journeys, but maybe that's just me. The seat has been creaky since almost new, despite the dealer 'fixing' it twice. It groans over every single bump in the road and the seats are also far from supportive. I just can't find a comfortable spot.

Either the bottom half of my spine is unsupported, or the top half is. I drove seven hours to Exeter and back this weekend, and while the car itself soaked up the drive without fuss (and returned just shy of 50MPG at 80mph) I was rather stiff and sore at the other end. The seat base / squab is also very short compared to Euro cars, and digs in at the top third of my thigh causing a lot of discomfort after a while.

It's nice to drive and great on fuel, but the seats just don't cut the mustard. I wouldn't have another for that reason alone.

I find them vile... I had one as a rental for too long... horrifically uncomfortable, terrible damping and just not a nice place to be... both VW and Seat do a better job with similar equipment.

I had a Superb from 2011 to 2014 and I couldn't disagree more. I did 20k plus a year and never once felt stiff, sore or tired at the other end of a long journey. It just wafted along in near silence and was simply palatial inside. I loved it and would have another in a heartbeat.

Just goes to reiterate the maxim above - test drive first because we're all different!

How did you find the Passat? My delivery date has come forward so will have it in 2 weeks hopefully.

I had a passat the other day - the engine was garbage (felt like the 1.6 tdi though I didn't check) but on a whole it was a pefectly pleasant, comfortable car.

Much like I'd expect a Pasat to be really!

In contrast I spent a fair few hours in a facelifted focus yesterday and was pretty disappointed in some of the ergonomics and material used around the dash (though the design is much, much improved). I also found it very uncomfortable on a longer journey, think I was sitting at a funny angle to the pedals - probably just the seats in that specific model

Best to check the millage against the price first to really get an idea if it's a good deal.

If you intend to do 10k a year then it's a good deal.

Go through the website and you can change the mileage up to 30k... although not all automate a quote that high, may have to submit quote.

If they're a good deal for 10k, it's likely they'll have a good deal on 30k too.

Both cars would be perfectly competent for your needs.

Personally really not a fan of the way the Passat looks now, but I had one a couple of weeks ago and it was good for trundling a few hundred miles.

I like the way the new Mondeo looks a lot, so as long as the interior was OK in person (really didn't like the big slab on the facelifted focus) that would probably be my choice

The mondeo has been out (in the UK)for less than a year so I don't really get that.

The VW doesn't bring anything new to the party over the Ford - not that it's a bad choice

Mondeo and Passat both came out about the same time

I was referring to general car reviews due to the car being released in the us a few years ago.

As much as the Mondeo has more bhp, is there much difference in torquey ness ?
