The labour Leader thread...

Corbyn could surely be attacked on so many more legitimate fronts. Out of context quotes and tabloid trash seems silly. By similar logic, I could print tomorrow....

Cameron signs coalition treaty with Abbas

:p

Well if you took each

National Security - he'd want to scrap Trident, leave NATO and generally reduce the Armed Forces if he could get away with it- I'd say that would be a decrease in National Security

Economic Security - well this is the Labour party so enough said

Family Security - with the above two this is a given

So not that outlandish

It's all over the Tory Twitter account and I have seen the Defence Sec. spout the same rubbish. It's low grade mud slinging at best.

Suspect David Cameron's special advisors tweeted that out rather than the PM himself. Can't imagine that wasn't a carefully plotted tweet micromanaged by his office, clearly not an off the cuff remark!

Sigh, and this is why I don't vote at all. They really **** me off with all their childish mud slinging/name calling and point scoring.

Maybe if they all grew the **** up and worked with each other our country would be better off for it.

Are we not experiencing the largest series of cuts to out armed forces in generations?

As for Trident, whilst I myself would prefer to keep it, completely understand why many would not. We're a small island with much less power and influence in the world (no more blue water projection either for now) than before.

Economics - well yes, enough said when it comes to Labour :p:o

Let's not forget, there is no way Corbyn is winning an election. Period.

The issue isn't really allying with unsavoury people, unfortunately that is politics. The issue is the language used. During the negotiations for the Good Friday Agreement it was never "our friends in the IRA". Corbyn has however used that exact term for some very unsavoury people.

Nobel prizes (with the exception of the peace prize) don't come easy. They are given out after the success of a winner's work is apparent. In the case of the economics prize, this means theory than turns into successful practice.

The work of Nobel prize-winning economists has successful practical applications. Just look at Black, Scholes and Merton. And, IIRC, poor Merton was dead by the time he received his award.

I agree but that doesn't make him the messiah and doesn't guarantee all prophecies of what might have happened to be true. Given half of what they do is crystal ball stuff I could spout what could have happened if done differently.

What we have is the hear and now and to be honest it could have been a lot worse (pick any number of EU countries) and potentially a bit better (given we are already in the top % of growing economies) so overall a fairly decent place given the circumstances.

It was Black that was dead by the time they got the prize.

And terrible example, its practical application being a cause of financial crises :p

Black never received the Nobel memorial* prize, Merton received his in 1990 and died in 2000 and Scholes? His Long-Term Capital Management hedge fund collapsed spectacularly the year after he was awarded it. So much for successful practical applications!

* - economics "Nobel"s are not awarded by the Nobel prize committee but instead are a semi-parallel organisation which adopted the name.

Jeremy Corbyn appears to remain silent during national anthem at commemoration service
In another photo of the ceremony Mr Corbyn does appear to be singing, however.

Yesterday, it was his clothes. Earlier in the year it was a bacon sandwich (poor Ed, he wasn't as his best). It's pathetic :(.

Showing his true colours by not singing the nation anthem at the service today. It's worse than pathetic and I shudder to think what he might do in future. :(

Pity that Corbyn didn't sing the anthem. I bet he has a lovely voice, like the Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends. The old world weary Sea Dog that he is...
