The labour Leader thread...

I could never ever vote for a Prime Minister who wanted to do away with our nuclear deterrent. He could promise me the world, but I still couldn't condone us having no nuclear ability. Too dangerous nowadays.

Maybe we can send Corbyn out to negotiate with Putin instead, it'd probably go down something like "Mary from Newport would like to ask why you want to vaporise her town?"

Whenever Cameron tried to be snarky it just made him look unreasonable, to the point that he had to stop himself doing it several times

and this is why it works so well, if cameron was trying to be clever then it was a direct attack on the member of the public asking the question and it minimised his standard blame labour response, which is getting very old considering he's been PM for 5 years now

Opening statement was strong from Corbyn was strong, after that just went down hill, he needed to respond to Cameron directly not just going on to Steves question.

Be interesting if he can keep that sort of public questions going, because Cameron won't be able to launch attacks on his views as it's a person direct question, I think some backbenchers from the tories will be getting *******ed for some giggling going on

I accept they were probably laughing at Corbyn, but that sort of thing doesn't look good at all if you want to look in touch with people.

Offset the fall in tourism against the savings made by not having to fund the monarchy any more and I doubt there would be a significant financial change either way. We'd see fewer tourists, but it's not like the history wouldn't remain a significant attraction. Other former monarchies manage.

Would it? You can still tour many of the best palaces in Europe. Difference is, they're open pretty much all year round, instead of just for a short period over the summer.

As said, I haven't got a strong opinion either way with the Monarchy. I wouldn't object to a different head of state, but I'm not fussed whether we then abolish the Monarchy or not. I can see good arguments for and against.

I don't like the monarchy, and probably would be for getting rid, but I don't think it's a financial decision as the queen certainly brings in more than she costs.

Yep that's what I'm saying. Osborne and Cameron both stone faced seriousness, like it or not they are very professional politicians and know the score.

Corbyn lacks massively in this area, I'm looking forward to next PMQs too see if he gets advised but I think he lacks the quick tongue like Cameron, Hague had in opposition

So basically Corbyn has no clue or policies of his own so he's using people's questions to cover for his shortfalls and to look "in touch"

Wow.

So you prefer a leader than doesn't give two hoots about what you have to say?

The questions are genuine questions from real people and Corbyn has given them a chance to be heard. I don't get why some people disagree with that..

But that's the key to this, it makes a personal/normal person asking this question.

It's quiet a clever tactic to get the people on his side, he could be seen as a man of the people, and someone who stands up for the average man in the street, that will get him votes and backing from the people that win him a GE.

It's the key to a very weak performance as it doesn't put Cameron under any pressure. And do we really want a Prime Minister who has to rely on the general public to provide questions? I expect our PM to lead.

Do any of them? The last I remember they all feather their own nest. Hasn't history proven this?

Things never change though. Once again history has proven this. All that changes is the names.

Pretty good first bout from Corbyn. I did feel the emails thing was a bit weak, but he seemed to cover some of the main issues. If it weren't for his dodgy ideological traits I would even say he's more vote worthy than ed milliband.

The most interesting part of the Corbyn fracas isn’t whether he’s “guilty” or not. It’s that the British media and politicians have created a guilt-by-association standard that appears to apply to Corbyn and Corbyn alone.

If the same standard were applied to establishment politicians, they’d all be far more guilty than Corbyn.

Such politicians regularly meet with, praise and/or give enormous material support to people who’ve said or done things at least as bigoted or appalling as Corbyn’s associates — and there’s nowhere near the same sustained outcry.

Being the issue at play.

Why so you think it's an issue?

Haven't really got a issue with this, Most have had media training, and you can put a huge gap between corbyn and Cameron.

What I don't like is a politician fed from the silver spoon and then pretends they know how people are feeling when hit hard, they might be linked but I don't see it that way

I like politics, I wish I got involved with it more at school and did something with it. But someone like me wouldn't last two minutes. My past would be dragged up, old friends, school teachers jesus just thinking of it wants me to die.

Surprised the media don't have a picture of JC eating an apple, it always makes people in Hollywood films look more of an ****.
