Just...why? Why could you possibly need to know this?
contents insurance. A lot of people especially if you are a couple with kids vastly under insure their clothes and never realise it. When your policy says something like £3k or £5k you think, yeah thats more than enough.
Only when you have had a fire and lost it all do you realise if you are lucky you wont ahve enough money to replace everything you had or if you are unlucky, the insurance company will say you were under insured and hence the whole claim will be settled pro rata so you only get two thirds of everything.
That's great but as can be seen from this thread the values vary wildly so an average will do him no good for that. What if he's a top statistical outlier? Or way below average?

I wear £400 boots, and honest to god nothing has ever been more worthwhile.. I can walk for 20 miles with them, or walk anywhere, and my feet have never ever been so comfortable or 'feeling just right'... But everything else is cheap crap, as it all feels the same on my body apart from the feet.
See even with that small quantity you are above the average. It amazes me that some people are claiming under £600 here.
I will probably get flamed but here goes ......
I have 3 wardrobes, as I keep my clothes ordered by purpose of use:
2 casual suits (for none work purposes) = £1,800
I will probably get flamed but here goes ......
depends on the man, surely?
Nothing in my wardrobe is less than £40...
(awaits snobbery flames!)
