My mate has got 290x's in crossfire. when I was looking ta the freesync screens I was put off with no crossfire support Have they sorted it since ?

DX9 is ancient and any game still running it should be in the 100s of frames per second - FreeSync is not needed, which is a good thing because I don't think it's even possible to work in DX9 but I may be wrong on that.

Ive never seen a reason why they can't do Dx9 Xfire FreeSync, i can't see why not, not when they can do Dx9 single card FreeSync fine.

didn't know this, any reason given why it doesn't work with DX9 titles? Or any indication from AMD if this will be sorted in the future?

Seems to be an issue with other AMD features too, The fps limiter only works on DX10 or above. If I run a dx9 game like SOC or some of the RE titles the 95 limit I've imposed (I only have a 75hz monitor) will not work, I know this because if I listen carefully I can hear coil whine when in the main menu. It's rare that it happens and even with the case at head height and only a foot or two away the whine is easy to miss but it is there if you listen out for it which told me the limiter wasn't working with those games.
Anyway back to the topic at hand, Maybe it's something in GCN causing these features to only work on DX10 and over.

Yeah, you have to use the frame limiter in rivatuner statistics server for DX9, bundled with afterburner for any who don't know.

So a single 290 is enough to drive any potential eyefinity freesync setup, like 3x4k or 3x1440? I think we both know its not.

Does freesync work multi-monitor? Didn't think it did for some reason. Fairly sure his statement was regarding a single monitor either way, in which a single GPU solution will easily run a DX9 game in the three digit frames..
Although now I mention it, is Rocket League not in DX9? Can be made oddly demanding with all the settings cranked :P

I think Guild Wars 2 is only DX9 too and with 2 x Fury Xs I can struggle to hold 144fps in the busy community hub places (Lion's Arch, etc.).
I believe the game is CPU limited, but I'd have thought Freesync would still be able to help? Unless it only helps with GPU limited situations?

FreeSync and Gsync isn't magic. It isn't going to boost your Frame rate from 60 to 144fps.

You get what ever your system can output Freesync will just help smooth out frame rate and remove screen tear. Though you running Xfire and that is a DX9 title and from AMD freesync shouldn't be working. DX10 +

Above when I say.. YES I am talking about mainstream Single Display and Mainstream Frame rate targets what is still 60fps.

People who want multi-displays and high frame rates are not the Mainstream target.

So they should just be ignored for not being part of the majority?

Back to my early question do amd plan on sorting this in the future?

Just let me get on the telephone and find out for you! * Ring Ring...Ring Ring...*

No answer mate, couldn't tell ya! Only AMD knows! Didn't realise you was so interested in freesync pgi? You wanting to go AMD?

I'm not saying it should make it hold 144fps.
Someone said that because it's a DX9 game a single GPU should be able to run it in the 100's of fps. They were clearly talking **** and only considering GPU bottlenecks.
I've also been moaned at (I think by you) for saying Freesync doesn't seem noticeable while hitting and fps limit. I'm now giving an example of a game where my fps will jump all over the place from high 40s to high 80s and you're telling me that Freesync isn't magic and won't deal with fluctuating framerates and shouldn't be expected to? Well what the **** is it for then?

The point to my post was, someone didn't think about what they were saying and said that DX9 games will run with such high fps you don't need Feesync, I was giving and example of why they were talking out of their ***.

At the moment no, but I do like to know what I'm buying as I keep my options open, that Acer 1440/144 freesync being sexy and £300 isn't helping :D (could get three for £900, that's not bad at all! Paid £700 for my swift!).

What's for sure is I'll never game on a non gsync/freesync panel again, so it's almost inevitable at some point I'll buy a freesync monitor.

What I meant was, has amd released a statement implying that they intend to fix it?
