Its blind luck as well. I don't really use shotguns much so invective isn't useful to me. You want as many as you can because there are 3 types of weapon, 3 sub types and then when you add in all the different elemental effects you have a lot of weapons that would be useful. Now that damage isn't really tied to the rarity of weapons its not such an issue that you can only equip one exotic at a time either.

Well spent 14 strange coins on those coins and still no exotic whilst farming Scourge of winter 
As for the weapons/subclasses how do you know whats the best ? i dismantle almost everything. I also have a few legendarys i dont use are they useless?

Check the perks, there normally geared towards a certain subclass, e.g lucky raspberry helps arc bolt grenades on hunters. If you get an exotic I would never dismantle it, until your certain its useless. Legendaries I just dismantle right now if I have something much better.
I've bought the Legendary Edition of this on PS4. I got bored of Destiny originall because of lack of content so I'm hoping I'll enjoy it more now. I'm only a low level so hopefully I'll be able to team up with some of you lot on here.

Edit: Been using an unlevel jade rabbit in PVP, its a lot of fun, having 7 in the clip is a bit tricky at times but it does some solid impact (71/91 headshots), fate of all falls works well expect when I just get headshots

I joined around dark below, but its a lot better then that. Lag is still an issue but the guns are much better balanced and you see a decent amount of different guns these days. Its fun overall and sword look pretty cool.
Having a Jade Rabbit lead too a lot of messages. Productive day for me went from 245 -> 275. I have 90marks left and still 1 heroic strike too do. Hoping I'm 290 tomorrow so we can get a raid in over the weekend.

Actually warming to TTK, more content than I initially thought although very definitely not an entire new game's worth. If I had bought the previous DLC and not got TTK I would be pretty annoyed as there is a lot of content that is now locked out if you don't "upgrade".
Have to love the reward system, I solo'ed a strike until literally 15 seconds from the end, the other guy dropped in to the nexus just as Sekrion exploded. I got nothing and he got an exotic engram

He was probably using three of coins if it helps.

That's 12 exotics from buying 11 three of coins packs. So it's pretty much an exotic for every 7 strange coins spent, definitely worth it.

I ran 20 runs of the eye of the gate Lord boss, and landed year two versions of Monte Carlo, the last word, fourth houseman and invective and Hawkmoon.
If I had landed the supercell I wouldn't of bothered much after that as its all I am after, I have 20 three of coins left so I'll burn those today and leave it after that.

I don't know what you get from the Jolly Holliday quest but it's another one of those stupid Crucible ones where you lose points if you die. Highest I've got so far is 9%. Now back at 0%. Abandoning that one. The Last Word now just seems totally crippled.

You get the chaperone exotic shotgun. I managed up to 18% but had a bad game so back to 11. The easiest way is to play something like control and only equip last word when using heavy or supers. Also you know pretty early on if a game is going for or against you so you equip it as best suits you.
Wait a minute, so you don't have to get kills with it? Just have it equipped in your slot but you can use grenades/supers/melee/heavy/specials?
Is it just me or are the exotic drops quite heavily biased towards year one weapons at the moment. (when a weapon drops which seem to be about 1:4 in favour of armour).
I got invective and hawkmoon and others on here seem to have got quite a few year one weapons as well. Perhaps this was intentional from Bungie. Exotics in the first few weeks are more likely to drop old weapons but year 2 versions and they can then patch it to change that.
