Id g-sync worth it?

Hmm. Is everybody in this thread happy to be forever on team green? Were you before? I mean, are you now less likely to buy an AMD gpu or wouldn't you buy AMD products before? No need to give reasons, just curious about whether buying GSync monitor has made you nV fans, or if you were nV fans anyhow, and GSync is just the obvious choice.

I wouldn't have bought AMD regardless.

Having tried both a 980 Ti and Fury X and both types of adaptive sync i.e Freesync + G-Sync I personally couldn't tell the difference between either camp so I just went with what was more aesthetically pleasing to me and I'm more than happy staying with AMD for the long run :)

I've had many Radeon Cards in my time but nV where better for this upgrade. Yes, the G-Sync Monitor has locked me in to nV but that means the Mrs is locked in as she gets the hand me downs. To be honest, I won't be upgrading for a couple of yes, so the monitor will be dead by then or I'll move on and the Mrs will have it.

Tbh I'll likely end up buying a freesync monitor at some point too and just run both depending on what vendor I go with, which ever isn't being used for sync purposes will be used as a slave monitor.

Wasn't like night and day for me unlike going from 60Hz to 120Hz which was huge - infact I saw it as a minor benefit - but after playing online using gsync for a couple of months I then found it quite hard to go back to even 120Hz without vsync let alone anything lower/ with vsync.

Wouldn't go back to non-GSync.

Would never buy an Asus monitor again though because the RoG Swift is riddled with problems, and warranty support is a joke.

I came from AMD and it would take me a lot to go back anyway. Had so many issues...

I hope we don't go forwards with two competing standards like this. VHS/Betamax all over again.

I'd love a g/free sync monitor, but I'm not going to lock myself in to one brand of gfx card. It's madness.

The only thing is the premium for Freesync/Adaptive v-sync monitors doesn't seem to be big,and there is far more chance that Nvidia will support Adapative v-sync at some point since AMD does and Intel will do and not the other way round.

An example is this monitor which comes in two versions:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-030-AO
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-022-AO

They are basically the same monitor apart from a colour difference and the different scalers.

Edit!!

Here is the base model:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-024-AO

There is a £20 premium for a scaler which supports adaptive v-sync and a £120 premium for a scaler which supports G-Sync.

However, the adapative v-sync and G-Sync versions do appear to have a better stand too, were you can swivel the display vertically so are slightly more expensive.

That's not true for all models, the new Acer superwides are about £300 more than the equivalent LG base model, for 75 vs 60 hz and async using the same panel and then gsync is another £100, and Asus/OCUK are just having a complete laugh

When you can get a 40" 4K for £400-450 I think everyone is taking the Michael on some of these now
It's adaptive sync... adaptive vsync is nvidias thing where they turn off vsync when below the refresh
