How far is this VW thing going to go?

Look, it was bad and I know it!

I've already got a taxi on the way. Let's just hope it's not a Passat! Whey!

No one cares about emission targets. This is typical regulatory money grab and nothing more. They set the BS targets now they are looking for a lotto win. It is realy shocking when you look at how much they want for such a non sense.

VW though could pay the fine and still continue with their revenues. The regulatory agency would not fine so much to wipe them out, they would only fine them so much that they would get the money. The bigger question i would be asking is who actually gets the billions in fine money and what do they do with the money, i bet it is nothing to do with the environment.

Ive seen it said it needs 42 million diesel cars to produce the same NOX as one coal fired powersation and we have 15 in this country at last count............

Reducing NOX in cars, apart from maybe making slight localised differences, will do diddly squat overall. It just looks like governments are doing something. If they were really concerned at reducing NOx levels they should close all the col powered power stations. Would slash the amount produced by more than 50%

Not sure that is quite correct. It was stated today that just the 11 million VW vehicles were emitting more than all of the UK power stations, vehicles, agriculture and industry together. Although the vehicles bit is a bit grey as it seems likely they are going to get into trouble here too over emissions.

and the DVLA as they will spaz out and roll out massive hikes in road fund licence and probably retrospectively back charge any poor mug that was unfortuante to have one of the affected vehicles under the guidance that they can then claim back from the manufacturer. Net result all drivers will be out of pocket as per usual with this spastic government..................

Why would the dvla care it passes the eu and UK tests as we don't give a shirt about NO levels only california does

yes. Don't know why but I thought that Nitrous Oxide levels were also part of the calculation. I am guessing they may well start using them if its an opportunity to raise further revenue ?

Yeah it's all estimated but this article seems to make the most sense. About 25 coal power stations and up to 500 deaths worldwide.

Vw are going to be sued over this guaranteed.

Cause depending on what they did to get past the nox limit, chances are the co2 readings would be affected too.

Isnt the meat industry accountable for most greenhouse gas emmission and deforestation anyway? Power stations and consumer vehicles are a big impact, but trade transport and land use is the biggest issue anyway. Everyone going vegan would have a bigger impact than car emmission cutting and turning lights off lol

Trouble is, in UK we can't even buy some VW Group cars in petrol version (which are available on mainland continent) because VW subdivisions claim there is not enough demand. Perfect example is almost complete absence of 1.8TSI engine in current UK lineup across entire group - less trims and petrol versions of Octavia Scout and Leon X-Perience are completely missing all together.

What's the point of banning diesel cars when theres millions of stinking great diesel vans and HGV's about.
A few bribes and backhanders and the story will soon go away.

And busses... with no one on them.

I'm loving these comedy pictures. VAG cars aren't really any more polluting than others. But that's the impression that customers may be left with.
