These pilgrims were there to follow their religion and paid the ultimate sacrifice for their endeavors. It is shocking the numbers involved 700+ killed and 850+ injured, all these people have families waiting for their return.
I understand that the Saudi's have been trying to increase capacity to allow more pilgrims but surely H&S would be the first thing to consider given the numbers that travel there. Maybe introduce a 'kettling' type approach, from the news reports they say it's a 5km trek from the previous location to this final ritual - having physical barriers along that route could be an answer allowing controllable numbers between each barrier.

Well said, i know we have a few members on here who are Muslim, can you let us other forum members know what you think of the above treatment that women get?

The fact that other Muslim countries don't have the above forced on them as well as Muslim women living in the UK not having this problem answers your question.

So that makes it ok? Because some other countries don't force this then we should turn a blind eye to the ones who do enforce it? I think a lot of Muslim women in the UK are treated this way also, especially behind closed doors.
Your reply does not answer any of the points i made earlier.
As OldCoals pointed out in his post,
"Women can't drive, women have to cover up, women can't work, women can't go out on their own. Women in general are treated abhorrently in Islam, calling it "traditional" is an insult to the women."

Do you have any comment on the deaths and injuries that occurred or are you suggesting giving women the right to drive would solve the issue of the stampede ?

I'm not saying I agree with it, but at the same time they need to find their own path, I think it's pretty arrogant of the West to extol its values when we still do appalling things furthermore for us to evangelise our values onto them is not fair either. Besides it is not every single Muslim country that behaves like this.
Don't get me wrong I think there are many appalling behaviours around the world and we still (as a race (humans)) have a long way to go. However who are the West to say that our values are the ones which are right? Personally I think we probably overall have a fairly decent/balanced set of morals and behaviours - but that's because I'm lucky enough to be European.
It is sad news that this happened and RIP to those who died and condolences to their families, my views are like some others on here in that the Saudi Gov couldn't care less, they have already blamed it on the pilgrims and this is the 2nd event to happen within the past 2 weeks, it will all be forgot about within a week and it will be the same story again in the years to come.
Where did i say giving women the right to drive would solve the stampede problem? I was agreeing\responding to what OldCoals said in his post, also what is the % of women attending the Hajj? From what i have seen on various news outlets it is in single figures, which again backs up what OldCoals said.

I think religion should be challenged, it's dangerous, countries who have belief systems like Saudi Arabia represent a existential threat to our way of life in the West.

whatever you want them to be - tis a human construct....
though that races are rather arbitrary doesn't negate the idea that someone can be racist
for example if I were to declare that Pakistanis smell bad or the Black people are prone to violence I'd be making 'racist' statements
