**** Sony Xperia Z3 ****

Do Apex or Nova add any other interesting features and which would you recommend ( note I haven't looked em up yet) and are they paid for or free? And if free, do they contain unwanted ads or push messages like loads of free apps do :( ?

They're free and paid for (for certain 'premium' features like the little number tool tips on icons to say how many unread messages etc.). They've so many extra features I couldn't even hope to list them all out here, but one of my personal favourites is the ability to set different grid sizes and icon/text sizes etc. on the homescreen and app drawer. Feels so much quicker having a 5 x 7 grid in the app drawer for example.

Things like scrollable dock, forced resizing on most widgets whether they 'support' it or not are all free too.

No ads or messages or anything, they're brilliant, I wouldn't use Android without Apex/Nova these days.

How come does the phone not do it always ( or why is it not a setting in the stock experia SW?) ? What possible reason could Sony have to not make this a normal feature ( in the options or so?) and only have it when the phone is in the dock :( ?

This is part of the stock software - works fine on my Xperia Z3. Simply select the option in "Home screen settings" and it will auto-rotate to landscape mode. See this post from Xperia Blog.

Excess is good. £75 with NatWest

It's different depending on what type of claim it is and there is a premium for iphones.

Basically so long as it's not an iphone your claiming for it's very reasonable. Which makes sense as they usually do cost a premium.

Great isn't it. I'm with Nationwide and plan to upgrade to this account once I get a new phone. I've looked at similar accounts from other banks and a lot have rubbish basic breakdown cover or Europe only travel insurance, but as a package I think this is cracking value. Wasn't sure what the excess was, but that's really good.

All the cover you get is premium.

It's premium road cover as it covers you in any car in the whole of euorpe. be it a rental car, your own car or a mates. I believe you don't even need to be the driver either but your better off reading all the T and C's.

I've used it twice so far and it's well worth having that cover.

The holiday one again is premium as it covers the whole world including is it winter sports i believe and north america both of which are normally premiums.

£10 a month = £120 a year.

breakdown cover and travel insurance is easy £100 a year on it's own and something i would normally buy anyway.

so for the extra £20 a year i get mobile phone cover. makes perfect sense doing it this way.

No issue with that here. If you SD has a lot of media then media scanner will scan it and it will use resources until it's finished.

Sounds more like a damaged SD card than anything else, I have three cards I swap between on a weekly basis and never had issues like that.

i never ever put my phone where that red circle is in the picture imo it's dangerous to have your phone there.

if i'm using my phone as a sat nav it goes in the little gripper thing I have stuck to the dash. otherwise if i'm just bluetoothing music it stays in my pocket.

i can control the phone using the remote control attached to the steering wheel.

having your phone in the red circle would be retarded if using as sat nav as you need to take your eyes and peripheral vision completely off the road. same goes for using it in any way in that position.

On both ports ( magentic?) ? Or just USB ?

Sounds like a dud usb port anyhow.

Have you checked your cable and slightly compressed it so it sits tighter, I noticed some cables didn't make good contact, and tightened em myself with my teeth.

The usb port isn't to great on the Z3.

imo it's dangerous to have your phone there.
Exaggeration... Driving is sleep inducing half the time with the speed limits around here. Besides, who the hell cares if you sit in congestion, everybody is on their phone then.
if using as sat nav
No, use built in sat nav of car, use phone to run speed trap apps and ones that help you with them average speed zones ( can drive exactly 6 km/h to fast before a fine, so want an app that tracks average speed in such zones like ''Flitsnav'').
i can control the phone using the remote control attached to the steering wheel.
You can reply to texts, read mail, whatsapp, etc from the wheel ?

The only thing forbidden is holding a phone, so they can suck it. The government is asking for it by settings 50 and 60 mph limits on the motorway and what else is there to do in a traffic jam or at traffic lights, not going to stare at the car in front all the time.

Hi guys just read about the last 20 pages trying to get some info regarding this phone Z3
my wife has a 4 month old Z3 on 2 yr contract and she has dropped it on the floor and the top of the front screen is broken but the phone still works bar the Google search bar at the top of the phone where the glass is broken

how much is this going to cost to put a new glass screen on I cannot find any one who has actually paid to have this job done

no insurance on the phone so I will have to fork out and pay - but as everything bar the google search engine works am Loathe to be paying hundreds of pounds to repair it

so does any one have suggestions for a cheap repair job

the below was from Sony last October.

About £32 for a new screen for the Z3. You could DIY it if you have the tools and some DIY skills, or just take the lot to a phone repairer locally and just pay labour.

I found a supplier selling new HK z3's for £288.

Do you lot think the price is likely to fall substantially below this when the Z5 is launched? I don't want to pay £500 for a phone so the Z5 is definitely out for me but if the Z3 is likely to drop to say £225 or £175 when the Z5 is released then I'll wait, if not I'll buy it now (I really need a phone as I sold my phone in anticipation of the S6 Edge but was very disappointed with it and decide to hold out - now it's becoming an issue)

Historically, have previous Z's fallen by 25%/50% when a new Z is launched?

My Xperia Z3 has got a huge black spot on the screen every time I try to take a picture. The spot remains after I've taken the pic. It's really annoying me now.

What can I do to resolve this issue, or do I need to pay the store a visit, I've only had the phone since July. :(

And people slate the Z3 camera...
