Preferred exclusives and/or where your friends are. Both great machines. I currently have a PS4 and it's great. I will soon be getting an XB1 for Halo 5 and Forza 6. PS4 has more grunt but to my eyes the XB1 is no slouch either. PS4 monthly games are very poor I think. You will need a yearly sub for either which is around £30 per year if you look around for deals.

My xbox one runs super quiet and with a play and charge battery kit the pad lasts a long time much longer than my Ps4.
Xbox 360 backwards compatibility is coming in november along with a new redesigned dashboard.

Completely wrong, most recent games are at least 900p some 1080p like Mad Max, the gap is closing all the time, Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid 5 show a new standard in Xbox One optimisation, the differences in games performance/graphics is very small, the smallest of any console generation.

Just as Sony equally appreciates yours. 
It's all down to personal preference for games and any additional features the console has. Petty bickering and "uber-powerful" last gen processors producing higher frame rates would never cause me to switch to a PS4 as the features aren't what I want and it has **** exclusives. That's my opinion.

Some folks just can't seem to accept that people have positive things to say about the XB1.
The problem is that people are exaggerating those positives and trying to trivialise the negatives. Whatever way you cut it the Xbone is a disappointment.
Either way OP just keep the receipt.

I agree, where are these 720p games for XboxOne outside of first gen games even The Golf Club has been patched to 900p.

I'd have agreed with you until last week. Mine wasn't used much for two years after making the mistake of committing to a launch title. Then Forza 6 came out. Now it's the best thing since sliced bread again. The hardware is immaterial to me.
I don't know anyone who's bothered about the 900p for the latest FPS internet uproar, or how many EUs on the GPU or GHz or whatever it is in console fanboi-land this week. Given a free choice, the console chosen is determined by the exclusives and the machine their friends are using.

And to the op please don't expect to get many decent answers to this question , my advice is nip to a local game store and try them both out. See which controller you like, ui you like etc...
But I can tell you. And any Google search will tell you the same, ps4 is selling way better and seems to be the forerunner this gen at the moment , and it doesn't appear to slowing down much.
